As a long-time fan of Hugh Bonneville‘s captivating performances, I am thrilled to see him taking on yet another intriguing role! His versatility never ceases to amaze me, and it’s always a treat to witness his transformation into different characters. The espionage political thriller “The Agency” seems like an exciting new challenge for Bonneville, and I can’t wait to see him share the screen with such a stellar cast, including Michael Fassbender, Jeffrey Wright, and Richard Gere!
Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville has landed his next TV role.
As reported by Variety, the actor will appear in the forthcoming Paramount+ series titled “The Agency,” a modern adaptation of the French political drama “Le Bureau des Légendes.
In addition to the already announced actors Michael Fassbender, Jeffrey Wright, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Katherine Waterston, Bonneville will also be part of the cast.
Completing our cast are actors like John Magaro, Alex Reznik, Andrew Brooke, Harriet Sansom Harris, India Fowler, Saura Lightfoot-Leon, Reza Brojerdi, and the renowned Richard Gere.
The Agency features Fassbender in the role of Martian, a secretive CIA operative who, against his will, must leave his concealed identity and return to London. In this city, he rekindles his old flame, the one he had to leave before.
“The official summary goes on to describe a situation where his job, true self, and objectives collide with his emotions, thrusting him into a perilous world of global secrets and spying.
In the new role, Bonneville will portray James Richardson, a character with a deep, prolonged connection to Martian.
As an eager admirer, I can’t help but share some exciting news: I’m thrilled to be part of the team that’s bringing a gripping espionage political thriller to life in London! This project has attracted some heavyweight talents, including myself (in an executive producing role), George Clooney, Grant Heslov, and Joe Wright. Notably, the multi-talented Joe Wright will also be directing the first two episodes. Can’t wait to see this one unfold on our screens!
Meanwhile, it’s been announced that Michael Gambon, known as Bonneville, will reprise his role as Mr. Brown in the upcoming movie titled “Paddington in Peru“. This film is set to hit UK theaters next month.
In the upcoming third installment of the Paddington series, our cherished bear character will journey back to his native Peru accompanied by the Brown family. However, it’s worth noting that Emily Mortimer has been cast as Mrs. Brown, replacing Sally Hawkins in the role.
In a conversation with Empire regarding the remake, Bonneville stated: “We’re simply exchanging one for another without any pretense. It wasn’t a messy separation or anything. Emily appears to be an ideal match for the role.
The Agency has not been informed about the official launch date as of now. However, it’s set to premiere “Paddington in Peru” in UK theaters on November 8, 2024, and in US theaters on January 17, 2025.
