Downton Abbey star teases “full-circle” story details for third movie
Actress Joanne Froggatt, best known for her role in Downton Abbey, has hinted at aspects of the forthcoming third movie in the series, suggesting that the plot will conclude in a satisfying and complete manner.
The original series of Downton Abbey, initially spanning six TV seasons, appears set to end with its upcoming third movie, titled “Downton Abbey: The Final Chapter“, scheduled for release in September at movie theaters.
Although specifics about the movie’s plot are being tightly guarded, actress Samantha Froggatt hinted at certain storylines during an interview with Metro. She revealed that the film will serve as a moving farewell for multiple characters.

The actor, who starred in every episode of the series, commented on the central members of the family and their supporting staff, expressing thoughts about where they are headed in the future and reflecting on how far they have come. He described this as a poignant moment that brings everything full circle at the conclusion of the story.
Although Froggatt didn’t spill any extra beans about the upcoming movie, she did reminisce about her time on the series. She mentioned that one unforgettable night in 2014, when she bagged a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress, will always be a career peak for her.
She reminisced, “I’ll always be deeply thankful. That night was both thrilling and nerve-wracking, like something out of a captivating fairy tale. I’ll never forget it.” As for the UK, there wasn’t much homemade drama being produced at that time, but reality TV had just hit its stride and was extremely popular.
Although it was sad at first, things eventually turned around for the better, and ‘Downton Abbey’ played a significant role in rekindling interest in quality dramas. It has been an incredible journey watching it unfold, and here I am, still able to share this story.
The actress stated emphatically that she has absolutely no interest in participating in reality television shows, asserting, “Absolutely not. I’m an actor, and my personal life is not up for grabs.
Julian Fellowes has penned The Grand Finale once more, while Simon Curtis, who directed A New Era before, is back to direct it. Some cast members will return for the roles they previously played, with Joely Richardson, Simon Russell Beale, and Alessandro Nivola joining the cast as new faces.
Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is scheduled to be released in cinemas on September 12.
