It appears that the actors from Downton Abbey might gather again for a heartfelt farewell documentary after the launch of their third and concluding film. However, there’s a significant adjustment on the horizon that could make viewers extremely upset.

For the final act, the actors will unite for a shiny, new farewell documentary called “Goodbye Downton Abbey,” as reported by The Sun.

Alternatively, it’s disappointing news for those initially captivated by the show on ITV, as the finale is likely to be accessible only on a streaming service – leaving out viewers who don’t have a subscription.

A source close to the TV industry shared with the media outlet, “It’s going to bring mixed feelings for fans who eagerly anticipate a reunion of the Downton Abbey cast.

As a die-hard enthusiast, I can hardly contain my excitement! This news suggests a fierce competition among streaming platforms vying for the rights to this highly anticipated content. Most likely, it’s between Netflix, who currently grace our screens with all the TV episodes, and Amazon Prime Video, who hold the first two movies. The anticipation is killing me!

As the third movie premieres, we bid farewell to Downton Abbey. However, not everyone can join this goodbye, since viewing it requires a valid subscription.

News arrives following the confirmation last year that Julian Fellowes, along with his crew, had been developing Downton Abbey’s Final Chapter.

In the concluding movie, we’ll witness the comeback of Hugh Bonneville and Elizabeth McGovern reprising their roles as the Earl and Countess of Grantham.

Alongside Michelle Dockery playing Lady Mary Crawley and Jim Carter portraying Mr. Carson, these are some cherished actors who gained prominence during the initial run of the show from 2010 to 2015.

The new movie is scheduled for release in cinemas on September 12, while the documentary, made by Monkey Kingdom (UK), should also be released approximately on that date.

The content is expected to feature exclusive backstage videos, conversations with cast members, and heartfelt testimonials from fans about the lasting impact of the series.

The newest update comes after the unveiling of the freshly-released trailer for the concluding movie, which stirred up emotions among fans and hinted at a significant controversy surrounding Lady Mary.

The short video shows Robert Crawley preparing to pass on his responsibilities as family head to his daughter, Mary.

Yet, her aspirations for taking over her father’s position face potential challenges upon the public disclosure of her divorce through the media.

The last chapter, penned by Julian and produced in the 1930s, was skillfully directed by BAFTA and Emmy-nominated Simon Curtis, who was also the mastermind behind the 2022 film, “Downton Abbey: A New Era.

In addition to recurring characters such as Hugh, Jim, Joanne Froggatt, Laura Carmichael, and Michelle, we’ll be welcoming fresh talents like Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale, and Arty Froushan to the ensemble as well.
