Downton Abbey boss Julian Fellowes’ soapy returning period drama confirms release date with first look

HBO has unveiled a release date and a new teaser trailer for season three of The Gilded Age.

The highly acclaimed period series, penned by Julian Fellowes of Downton Abbey fame, is set to make a comeback starting from June 22nd. In the United States, you can catch it on HBO and Max, while UK viewers can enjoy it on Sky Atlantic and NOW.

Following the Opera War, the upcoming season is set to commence not long afterwards, with the Russells ready to ascend to the pinnacle of society.

In the official summary, we find that Bertha aims for an award that could catapult the family into unprecedented success, while George takes a significant gamble with the potential to transform the railway sector – although it might bring about his downfall instead.

On the opposite side of the road, the Brook family’s peace is disrupted when Agnes stubbornly resists Ada taking on the role of mistress of their home.

Peggy encounters an attractive physician hailing from Newport, but his kin are not particularly supportive of her professional path.

While New Yorkers are rushing towards tomorrow, their relentless pursuit of success might unknowingly sacrifice the very values they cherish deeply.

In the preview, character Bertha, played by Carrie Coon, discusses her ambition for supreme power, stating: “True happiness arises from a properly organized existence. Our offspring will hold positions of great influence globally.

Later on, she explains this to her daughter Gladys (Taissa Farmiga), suggesting that marriage with the Duke of Buckingham (Ben Lamb) offers a genuine chance to impact politics and mold situations, as she had agreed to marry him in the final moments of season two.

In a similar vein, Louisa Jacobson’s character, Marian Brook, shares: “I, too, wish to wed for affection. Indeed, that is my desire.

Besides the familiar faces from previous seasons, season three is set to bring in a number of fresh characters, portrayed by actors such as Phylicia Rashad, Andrea Martin, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Victoria Clark, Jordan Donica, Bill Camp, and Merrit Wever.

You can now stream seasons 1 and 2 of “The Gilded Age” on NOW, Sky Atlantic (UK), and HBO Max (US). The third season will premiere on June 22nd.
