Douglas Booth (Cluracan) teases "brilliant" The Sandman season 2

As a hardcore Sandman fan with a heart full of anticipation and a mind brimming with theories, I can hardly contain my excitement as we inch closer to Geeked Week, where the tantalizing glimpses of season 2 promise to satiate our hunger for more of this enchanting tale.

Netflix series The Sandman has completed filming for its second season and is now in the post-production stage. You can catch a glimpse of the upcoming episodes during Geeked Week later this month. Meanwhile, Douglas Booth (who plays Cluracan) has been expressing his admiration for the show, stating that it has significantly improved from its first season.

Fans of Sandman can breathe a sigh of relief as Booth’s glowing endorsement rolls in. The past few months have been challenging for followers who’ve closely watched the production process. Although no specifics have been shared, photos from set hint that the series is being completed. Scenes we’ve witnessed during filming seem to be from The Kindly Ones, the final act of the comics. In a rumored 12 episodes, season 2 appears to be packing an incredible amount of story into its run.

In the upcoming second season, Douglas Booth will portray Cluracan, a significant character who serves as both a courtier and ambassador at the Queen of Faerie’s court. He is the elder sibling of Nuala, whom Ann Skelly plays in season 2. Cluracan appears frequently in the comics, notably in “Season of Mists,” “The World’s End,” and “The Kindly Ones.” While Booth can’t disclose any spoilers about the series, he has confirmed that his character will appear in seven episodes: “I’m not allowed to discuss the plot much, but I do appear in seven,” he shared with Collider.

In summary, during season 1, characters like Matthew, Lucienne, Desire, and The Corinthian made an appearance in six or fewer episodes each. However, it seems likely that Cluracan will take on a significant role in the upcoming series.

Additionally, Booth expressed high regard for season 2 as well, stating his belief that it significantly outshines the initial presentation of the series.

“So, I play the Cluracan, and he’s a really fun character to play. I had so much fun with him. Ann Skelly was brilliant as Nuala. There’s not much I can say because I’ve never been on a project where they’re so secretive, and they make you sign so many things. But what I can tell you is the world-building is brilliant. It’s gone up a level even from series one. And all the additional cast is fantastic. Tom [Sturridge] is brilliant.”

To sum up, he aimed to alleviate any concerns among the fans. His remarks are sure to lessen some uneasiness about potential narrative overload. He stated, “They have a strong ensemble, it’s gripping, it’s engaging, and it looks phenomenal.” So, I trust you’ll enjoy it when it arrives, but it’s shaping up nicely.

As of now, we don’t know when The Sandman season 2 will come out. However, it’s predicted to debut in early 2025. Whether this is the final season or not remains uncertain, but it seems probable. Be sure to jot down Netflix’s Geeked Week on your calendar, as Tom Sturridge (Dream) and Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Death) will be there to reveal a sneak peek teaser!
