Doomfist disabled in Overwatch 2 ranked due to Rocket Punch exploit
In the competitive matches of Overwatch 2, it’s currently not possible to choose Doomfist as your character. Let me explain the issue with the Doomfist glitch.
In the current version of Overwatch 2, it’s now impossible to pick Doomfist in ranked matches. This unexpected adjustment has left players puzzled and eager to discover the reason behind this change.
Doomfist disabled in Overwatch 2 ranked
In Overwatch 2, when you join the Competitive Play game mode after logging in, you might find that Doomfist is no longer an option for tank characters. If you hover your cursor over him, a message appears saying “This hero is temporarily unavailable in ranked matches.” Additionally, it seems that Doomfist is restricted in Competitive Play at the moment, and he’s not available for hero bans either.
Overwatch 2 Doomfist bug
It’s possible that the issue is caused by a glitch, where Doomfist could perform a free empowered punch without spending his energy. This glitch seems to be related to using Power Block and swiftly canceling it during Meteor Strike ultimate, as suggested by Reddit user bbbbigface. If executed correctly, this sequence allows Doomfist to get an extra Rocket Punch, which can be identified by a blue flash appearing on him when the glitch is activated.
If you manage to pull it off, your Doomfist will emit a blue glow, as mentioned by bbbbigface, who also linked to a video posted by GonnaSaveEnergy on YouTube’s Get Quaked On channel that supports this claim.
In response to a post by OWCavalry on platform X, some Overwatch 2 players expressed joy over no longer encountering Doomfist in ranked matches. They discussed their sense of relief, with some going as far as creating memes to celebrate his absence from these competitive matches.
For Doomfist enthusiasts or those who enjoy playing him in combat, there are alternative ways to do so across various game modes within Overwatch 2. These include more casual ones like Quick Play, 6v6 Open Queue, Mystery Heroes, Overwatch 2 Stadium, and also the various options available in the Arcade.
Currently when this piece was released, Doomfist hasn’t been restored to ranked play in Overwatch 2. But it seems like it won’t be long before that happens, given that the developers are addressing a bug in the process.
