According to Entertainment Weekly, Christina Applegate recently discussed the film on the podcast “MeSsy With Christina Applegate and Jamie-Lynn Sigler.” On this podcast, she and her co-host discuss their shared experience of dealing with multiple sclerosis. Applegate expressed pride today, stating that she had reservations about making the movie at first, but now enjoys rewatching it with her daughter.

Back then, I wasn’t keen on taking up commercial films as I was deeply immersed in indie productions. My preference was clear: “All I wanted to do was act in independent films.” Looking back, I can admit that I may have come off as a bit pretentious at the time.

During this period, I faced some deeply troubling personal issues behind the scenes. These events are included in my book and were truly harrowing. Consequently, there were days that were extremely challenging for me. However, despite these struggles, I still cared for everyone around me. Yet, at the same time, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease about compromising my principles.

I used to wear some unusual outfits in the past. For instance, I wore Dr. Martens shoes, but the shoulder pads and other elements of my clothing were quite embarrassing to me. I often felt self-conscious during fashion shows because I thought they could have been more stylish and less eccentric. However, that was just part of the movie’s setting.

‘Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead’ Is One of the Best Cult Comedies of the 1990s

As a devoted cinephile, I recall watching “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead” with stars like Applegate, Danielle Harris, Josh Charles, David Duchovny, Joanna Cassidy, John Getz, and Keith Coogan. Contrary to popular belief, this movie didn’t exactly set the box office on fire, earning a modest $25 million. However, its sales on home media were quite impressive. Unfortunately, critics were less than impressed, arguing that it was attempting to ride the wave of success from “Home Alone.” On Rotten Tomatoes, it currently holds a score of 35%, but this rating doesn’t do justice to the film’s cult following. Applegate herself acknowledged the film’s unique appeal in a recent podcast discussion.

The venture didn’t generate any profit whatsoever; it bombed spectacularly upon release, leaving us in the same spot. I was around 18 or 19 years old when it happened, although I might have been 18. Strangely enough, people are still referencing that movie and I’ve watched it numerous times with my daughter.
