The first trailer is out for Glen Powell’s upcoming thriller, How to Make a Killing. Powell stars as a wealthy heir who needs to eliminate certain family members before he can inherit a huge fortune in this darkly comedic story.
I recently watched this movie, and it’s really cool how it takes inspiration from a classic British film called Kind Hearts and Coronets from 1949 – that one starred Alec Guinness, and it’s a great movie too! The director, John Patton Ford, also wrote the script, which I always appreciate.
In addition to Powell, the film How to Make a Killing features Margaret Qualley, Jessica Henwick, Zach Woods, Topher Grace, Bill Camp, and Ed Harris.

The trailer reveals that Powell plays Becket Redfellow, a man whose mother was cut off from her rich family. However, she led him to believe he would inherit a large sum of money.

Okay, so I’m really hooked on this story! It’s about a guy named Becket, and now that he’s grown up and living in New York, he’s found out he could inherit a massive $28 billion. There’s just one problem – he has seven relatives, who he doesn’t exactly like (he calls them ‘rich pricks’!), standing in his way. It’s a total mess!
Okay, so when one of the family members unexpectedly ends up in serious trouble – like, really deep water – it just proves how far Becket will go to get that money. It’s pretty clear he’s not playing fair and will do anything to win.
Becket quickly discovers that getting rich quickly isn’t as simple as he thought, and he soon finds himself in trouble.

The movie How to Make a Killing, called “wickedly entertaining,” will be released in US theaters on Friday, February 20th. A release date for the UK hasn’t been announced yet.
Currently, Powell appears in Edgar Wright’s film The Running Man, which is based on the 1982 Stephen King novel of the same name. The story was previously made into a movie in 1987.
Powell will play the character Ben Richards, originally portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1987 film. Schwarzenegger has given his complete support for this new version of the role.
