Spike Lee’s movie titled “Highest 2 Lowest”, featuring Denzel Washington, has had its first trailer unveiled by A24.
Drawing inspiration from Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 crime thriller, “High and Low,” the forthcoming film will relocate the storyline from Japan to contemporary New York City.
In the new trailer, we catch a glimpse of notable actors such as musician A$AP Rocky and Jeffrey Wright who will be sharing screen time with Washington.
In addition to the main cast, we have Ice Spice (a rapper), Ilfenesh Hadera, Dean Winters, and John Douglas Thompson joining the team.
Coming up at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, the movie “Highest 2 Lowest” is slated for a US theater release on Friday, August 22nd. Starting from Friday, September 5th, it will also be available to stream on Apple TV+ (as reported by Variety).
A UK theatrical release date has yet to be confirmed.
The upcoming movie will be their reunion after almost two decades, since they last worked together on the 2006 film “Inside Man.
In the trailer, Washington expresses that there is a greater depth to existence beyond merely accumulating wealth. He emphasizes the importance of upholding one’s integrity – standing for something, and holding strong convictions about what truly matters.
He elaborates: “Difficulties will stem from prosperity. Difficulties will stem from achievements. Difficulties will stem from wealth. And chaos ensues.
Regarding the latest updates about Denzel Washington, he has revealed that there will be two more installments of his film series, “The Equalizer,” set to release in November 2024. In other words, he confirmed that not only is there a fourth Equalizer movie in production, but also a fifth one as well!
A growing number of individuals express joy over it – there’s a clear fondness for those Equalizers. For me, it’s all about diversity. Sometimes, I find myself thinking, this one is for me, and that one is for someone else.
