After a long wait, a new Star Wars movie is almost here! Lucasfilm just released the first trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu, and you can check it out above.
The popular Disney+ series is returning with a brand new adventure! This time, our heroes will embark on their most exciting mission yet, working with the New Republic to safeguard the ideals and freedoms won by the Rebellion.
Jon Favreau, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Dave Filoni, directed *The Mandalorian and Grogu*. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.

The new trailer keeps most of the plot details under wraps, but it does show the Razor Crest again. We also see the return of Zeb Orrelios from *The Mandalorian*, and Grogu spending time with the Anzellans.
The latest installment follows Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu as they embark on a new adventure, and Grogu even gets to try out a small telescope!
We’re getting our first glimpse of Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt, Jabba the Hutt’s son, in Star Wars. We’re also seeing Sigourney Weaver’s character, a pilot dedicated to safeguarding the New Republic.
Jon Favreau not only co-wrote and directed the film, but also produced it with Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Ian Bryce. The music was composed by Ludwig Göransson.
It’s currently unknown if Katee Sackhoff will reprise her role as Bo-Katan Kryze in future movies, but she recently shared that playing the character negatively impacted her self-assurance. She explained that Bo-Katan’s personality and goals felt very different from her own, and she struggled to connect with the character. ‘Bo-Katan and I are very different people,’ she said, ‘and I didn’t really understand what motivated her.’
Although it’s been almost seven years since the last *Star Wars* film, fans won’t have to wait quite as long for the next one, *The Mandalorian and Grogu*, which is coming out next summer.
The new *Star Wars* movie, *Starfighter*, featuring Ryan Gosling and Matt Smith, is currently being filmed and is expected to come out in May 2027, though the release date could change.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is released in cinemas on 22 May 2026.
