The trailer for Timothée Chalamet’s new movie Marty Supreme us here.
In the movie, the actor portraying Willy Wonka plays a self-assured, rising star in table tennis, who firmly believes that his path leads to renown and wealth.
Timothée Chalamet significantly altered his appearance for the part he’s playing, donning thick, bushy eyebrows, a slender mustache, and modifying his eye look with both glasses and colored contacts.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but get excited about the star-studded cast of this upcoming film! Notably, Gwyneth Paltrow returns to the silver screen in her latest role, joining an impressive ensemble. Among them are Odessa A’Zion, Kevin O’Leary, Sandra Bernhard, Fran Drescher, and the one and only Tyler, the Creator. It’s truly a dream lineup!
Although the trailer presents elements characteristic of a biographical film, such as moments where characters doubt our protagonist’s ability to realize his aspirations and a dramatic instrumental rendition (specifically ‘Forever Young’ by Alphaville), it doesn’t necessarily fall under that genre. Instead, it may be a dramatized portrayal or fictional narrative inspired by true events.
The movie is reportedly inspired by the life of actual table tennis player Marty Reisman, but not a direct representation. It’s been likened to films such as “Catch Me If You Can” and “The Wolf of Wall Street,” suggesting fictionalized narratives based on real-life events.
In his first solo directing venture, Josh Safdie takes the reins, having earlier collaborated with his younger brother Benny on “Good Time” and “Uncut Gems”.
As a dedicated cinema enthusiast, I can’t help but admire A24 for their impressive work behind the scenes of this magnificent production. With an estimated budget of approximately $70 million (around £51.5 million), it ranks as one of their costliest ventures, sharing the title with Dwayne Johnson’s The Smashing Machine, a project masterfully directed by Benny Safdie.
Last year, Timothée Chalamet, who has just made his red carpet debut with girlfriend Kylie Jenner, secured a multi-year contract with Warner Bros.
This agreement grants the studio priority rights for his future projects, which encompasses both acting and producing roles. However, it also leaves room for him to work on other projects should he decide to do so.
Marty Supreme will be released in cinemas on Boxing Day in the UK.
