The first haunting trailer for the horror movie titled “Shelby Oaks“, featuring Camille Sullivan, has been unveiled.
The narrative, both written and helmed by YouTube movie critic Chris Stuckmann, focuses on Mia Brennan (portrayed by Sullivan), who embarks on a quest to find her estranged sister Riley. As she delves deeper, her fascination intensifies as she ponders the possibility that the imaginary demon from their shared childhood could have actually existed.
The upcoming movie “Shelby Oaks” showcased its spine-tingling trailer recently, featuring Brendan Sexton III and Michael Beach in notable roles, alongside horror film legend Mike Flanagan serving as an executive producer.
The clip is filled with common elements like dark passageways and shaky homemade recordings. It shows Mia traveling to the named town to find her missing sister. However, what she uncovers instead is a hidden evil and danger lurking beneath its peaceful facade.
Despite not being scheduled for U.S. cinema release until October, this horror movie had its premiere at the 28th Fantasia International Film Festival in July 2024. It’s been receiving positive buzz, as indicated by its high approval rating of 81% on Rotten Tomatoes.

According to Eye for Film, Stuckmann and his co-writer Sam Liz manage to maintain a firm grip on everything, even when the visuals hint at confusion or overindulgence. They also noted that the growing feeling of discomfort would leave you with an unsettling sensation.
IndieWire observed that “Shelby Oaks” appears to have been penned by a critic with an almost mythical understanding of pop culture history, and the direction exudes a tangible assurance that could herald promising future projects. Meanwhile, Slashfilm referred to it as “disturbingly intense”.
FilmHounds stated that “Riley Brennan’s heart-stopping story, brilliant audio work, meticulously constructed visuals, and outstanding acting make this horror movie an unmissable experience. It’s likely to be a must-see for all fans of the genre.
