Don’t miss resurfaced BBC crime drama with stacked cast including Sheridan Smith and Anna Maxwell Martin
Prime Video viewers have been watching a BBC crime anthology series with a stellar cast.
Viewers have come across “Accused”, a show featuring prominent British actors such as Anna Maxwell Martin, Olivia Colman, Stephen Graham, and Sheridan Smith.
The show began in November 2010, depicting a character who finds themselves facing trial and reflecting on the events that led to their accusation. This reflection continues over the course of two seasons.
Notably, stars from various popular series such as Anne-Marie Duff (Bad Sisters), Naomie Harris (James Bond), Sean Bean (Game of Thrones), Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings), and two former Doctor Who actors – Christopher Eccleston and Peter Capaldi – are also featured in the cast of Accused.
According to Metro.co.uk, the show has been growing increasingly popular over a decade since it ended, captivating audiences with its intricate plot twists and superb performances.
As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but be captivated by the gripping television show that goes by the name created by Jimmy McGovern. This series has garnered an impressive following, with a whopping 92% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes at the moment I’m writing this. It’s safe to say it’s left quite an impact!
Additionally, it performed admirably beyond the borders of the UK. In 2011, it garnered an International Emmy for the category of best drama series. Moreover, Eccleston was honored with the Best Actor prize in the same year, and Bean received the award for her role in 2013.
The success of the original series led to an American adaptation bearing the same title, created by Howard Gordon based on McGovern’s concept, which ran for two seasons on Fox.
Similar to its British counterpart, the American version of the show boasted a talented ensemble, comprising Rachel Bilson, comedian Whitney Cummings, Patrick J Adams from Suits, Cobie Smulders, Ken Jeong, and Sonequa Martin-Green from The Walking Dead.
Accused is streaming on Prime Video in the UK.
