Don’t miss Paul Mescal’s underseen Irish drama God’s Creatures on TV tonight
Tonight, you have an opportunity to revisit nearly the start of Paul Mescal’s career, as he was rapidly rising to stardom following his role in last year’s “Gladiator II.
Following his success in “Normal People”, Paul Mescal’s subsequent film appearance was in the overlooked Irish drama, “God’s Creatures“. In this production, he shared screen time with Emily Watson and Aisling Franciosi.
The film takes place in a small Irish fishing town, and it follows the struggles of a mother named Watson, who finds herself in a difficult predicament: she must choose between safeguarding her cherished son, Mescal, and adhering to her personal moral compass. This internal conflict culminates in a lie that she tells for his sake, ultimately causing a devastating rift within their family.
If it seems interesting to you, the show “God’s Creatures” is on tonight at 11:06 PM on BBC Two. Rhianna Dhillon from BBC 6Music will give a brief introduction before it starts.
There’s no need to fret if you miss the movie “God’s Creatures” on Friday night, as it will soon become accessible on BBC iPlayer following its broadcast. You’ll have the chance to watch it on the streaming platform for an entire year.
Under the guidance of directors Anna Rose Holmer and Saela Davis, the film titled “God’s Creatures” was penned by Shane Crowley. The story for this screenplay was collaboratively developed by Crowley and Fodhla Cronin-O’Reilly.
The film is included in the British Film Premiere season on BBC Two, an event by BBC Film and the BFI, airing a fresh terrestrial debut each Friday evening, along with a selection of short films available on BBC iPlayer.
Blue Jean kicked off the new season last week and is available to watch right now on BBC iPlayer.
