Don’t miss! Michelle Keegan’s “twisty” and “compelling” ITV crime drama The Blame gets first look

Fans of crime shows and police investigations will want to check out Michelle Keegan’s new ITV drama, *The Blame*. Filming recently began, and we’ve just gotten our first look at the *Fool Me Once* star on set!

I just started watching this new six-part drama, and it’s based on a book by Charlotte Langley – the publisher was calling it one of the best crime thrillers of last year, so I had to check it out. Basically, it kicks off with this really sad thing happening – a teenage girl dies – and it totally rocks this small town. Then, a full-blown murder investigation starts, and things get intense!

We’re getting our first glimpse of Keegan as Detective Inspector Emma Crane thanks to newly released photos from the set. You can view them below.

What to Read Next

One moment she appears worried, standing in the rain and wearing all black. The next, she’s shown standing at a doorway.

I was really excited to see Douglas Booth playing DI Tom Radley in *The Blame*, and honestly, the whole cast is fantastic. Nicola Shindler, who’s behind some other great shows like *Fool Me Once*, *The Guest* on BBC, and Disney’s *The Stolen Girl*, said they did a brilliant job, and I totally agree!

Alongside the main stars, Ian Hart (known for *Mr Bates vs. The Post Office*), Nigel Boyle (*Line of Duty*), Joe Armstrong (*Gentleman Jack*), Gavin Spokes (*Slow Horses*), and newcomer Nathan Mensah will also appear in *The Blame*.

I’m so excited for this new ITV crime drama! Polly Hill, ITV’s Director of Drama, says it’s packed with twists, which sounds amazing. And Shindler called it a really compelling series, promising a journey full of surprises. I can’t wait to see what happens!

Honestly, after seeing what *The Blame* is shaping up to be, it seems like exactly the kind of show genre fans like me have been waiting for – something we can really sink our teeth into and binge-watch!

I’m so excited for *The Blame* to come out! They’re filming it right now, but we don’t have a release date yet. In the meantime, if you’re like me and love a good, suspenseful crime drama, I’ve found a few things to check out while we wait!

6 new crime dramas to watch now, while you wait for The Blame

If you enjoy crime dramas like the popular series starring Michelle Keegan or ITV’s detective shows with female leads, here are some other options to watch while you wait for *The Blame* to be released.

Coldwater

Premiering in September, *Coldwater* features Andrew Lincoln back on television. He stars as John, a man in his 40s who is dissatisfied with being a stay-at-home father.

Despite receiving somewhat mixed reviews, ITV is promoting the show – a new crime thriller set in Scotland – as captivating and full of unexpected turns. The series features talented actors Eve Myles and Indira Varma.

Coldwater is available now on ITVX.

Karen Pirie

Looking for a good detective show with a female lead? Now’s a great time to check out *Karen Pirie* – season two came out earlier this year, and we’ve already shared three reasons why it should be on your radar.

BAFTA winner Lauren Lyle stars as the lead detective in this thrilling new series. She’s back to investigate a puzzling cold case: the mysterious disappearance of an oil heiress and her son back in the 1980s. Can she solve the decades-old mystery?

Karen Pirie is available now on ITVX.

Code of Silence

Featuring Rose Ayling-Ellis, Charlotte Ritchie, and Andrew Buchan, the drama *Code of Silence* received rave reviews, earning a five-star rating from *Digital Spy*, who called it “unmissable.” Viewers clearly agreed, as the show was quickly renewed for a second season.

ITV is calling the new crime drama a must-watch, and it centers around a deaf waitress who can read lips and unexpectedly becomes involved in a complex investigation.

Code of Silence is available now on ITVX.

Fool Me Once

Enjoying Michelle Keegan’s work? If the latest season of *Brassic* doesn’t grab you, many people are loving Harlan Coben’s *Fool Me Once* – it might be time to check it out (or even watch it again!).

Keegan delivers a strong performance as Maya Stern, investigating the mysterious disappearance of her husband, Joe (played by Richard Armitage).

Fool Me Once is available on Netflix.

Dept. Q

Coming in 2025, the new crime drama Dept. Q is based on the popular novels by Jussi Adler-Olsen. It centers around DCI Carl Morck (played by Matthew Goode), who comes back to work after a difficult experience and is put in charge of a team that investigates unsolved, cold cases.

The show quickly became popular on Netflix, so it’s not surprising to hear that a second season has been announced.

Dept. Q is available on Netflix.

Protection

The female-led series *Protection*, which premiered earlier this year, was well-received by viewers, with many comparing it to *Line of Duty*.

Siobhan Finneran, known for her role in *Happy Valley*, starred as Detective Inspector Liz Nyles, who worked in witness protection and became involved in a major security issue. The cast also included Katherine Kelly, from *In Flight*, and Nadine Marshall, who appeared in *Sherwood*.

The Blame will be coming to ITV1 and STV, and will stream on ITVX and STV Player.
