During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Powell discussed the unique charm of a role he took on, mentioning that in this case, viewers were aware that the character Eli Manning was playing was indeed under a disguise.

Instead of revealing the truth at the heart of this storyline, we decided to introduce an ongoing deception that generates intrigue and humor throughout the series. We thought, ‘Let’s approach it like ‘Tootsie’ or ‘Mrs. Doubtfire.’ Let’s see how much we can push this lie before it becomes untenable.’

Chad Powers premieres on Disney+ on 30 September.
