Donnie Wahlberg leads tributes to Aerosmith while fans admit they’re ‘unbelievably sad’ after the iconic band announced they were retiring from touring
As a die-hard rock music enthusiast who grew up in the 80s and 90s, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia when reading about Aerosmith’s latest setback. Having watched their iconic performances on MTV’s heavy rotation back in the day, it’s hard not to be moved by the band’s resilience and enduring spirit.
Aerosmith has shared that they are stepping back from live performances, as lead singer Steven Tyler is dealing with an injury affecting his vocals.
On Friday, an outpouring of tributes came in for the legendary rock band, with Donnie Wahlberg and followers expressing their sorrow upon hearing the news.
The band that originated in Boston back in 1970 announced the cancellation of all remaining shows for their ‘Peace Out’ goodbye tour.
On Instagram, Aerosmith shared a message to their fans saying: “Back in 1970, a little inspiration ignited us as a band. Thanks to your support, that spark turned into a flame and has been burning for more than 5 decades. Some of you have been with us since the start, while all of you are the reason we wrote rock ‘n’ roll legends.”
“Being a part of your life’s soundtrack has been an unparalleled honor for us. From the dance floors of clubs to the stages of massive tours, and at both the most monumental and intimate moments, you’ve invited us into your world. It’s truly humbling.”
We’ve always aimed to astound you with our performance, and you’re aware that Steven’s voice is unlike any other musical instrument. After dedicating countless hours over several months, he has meticulously worked towards restoring his voice to its previous state following his injury.
Despite being accompanied by top-notch medical professionals, he’s been battling hard. Regrettably, it appears that his vocal injury won’t allow for a complete recovery. As a united group, we’ve made a tough and sorrowful choice – one that is both necessary and heartbreaking – to step away from the touring circuit.
We cannot express enough gratitude to everyone who joined us for this final journey. Our heartfelt thanks go out to our skilled crew, our remarkable team, and the multitude of gifted individuals whose efforts have made our historic trips a reality.
As a musician who has traveled across continents and played for countless audiences, I can confidently say that there is no greater joy than seeing my music resonate with people. And to you, dear fans scattered throughout this beautiful planet, I extend my heartfelt gratitude. Your unwavering support and enthusiasm have made my dreams come true, and I am forever grateful for the connection we share. Keep playing my music loud and proud, for it embodies our shared spirit of passion and creativity. Dream on, friends, because together, we are creating something truly magical.

After learning about the latest update, the musician expressedly paid homage to the band with a touching message: ‘Thanks, Aerosmith! (heart emoticon)’
1. “One spectator remarked, ‘This one hurts deeply.'”;
For more than half a century, this band has traveled extensively for concerts, amassing numerous chart-topping songs along the way. These successful tunes earned them four Grammys and a prestigious induction into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame back in 2001.
The group, famously referred to as “the Bad Boys from Boston,” was trailblazing too by merging rock and hip-hop genres, notably through their groundbreaking collaboration with Run-DMC on the iconic track ‘Walk This Way.’
Apart from Steven, who is 76 years old, the band also consists of Joe Perry (age 73), Tom Hamilton (age 72), Joey Kramer (age 74), and Brad Whitford (also 72).
Previously, the renowned rock group was compelled to delay their tour because their lead singer, Steven, suffered an injury to his vocal cords.
In September 2023, Steven announced that his tour would be delayed due to issues he outlined in his statement.
In his writing, Tyler shared that he had been given stern medical advice not to sing for a month, and sadly, he expressed this.
Tyler mentioned that he suffered harm to his vocal cords during the performance on Saturday at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, which later resulted in bleeding.
In my message, I expressed that to ensure I deliver the best possible performance for you, I’ll have to adjust some timings and return at a later date.
Initially, the band declared their final tour in May 2023, which was scheduled to commence in September of the same year and span 40 North American locations, continuing until January 2024.
Aerosmith boasts a staggering global record sales figure exceeding 150 million copies, with over 85 million of those sales made within the U.S. alone.
As a devoted fan, I proudly acknowledge that this iconic American band has set a remarkable milestone by amassing the highest number of album certifications. With a staggering collection of 25 gold, 18 platinum, and 12 multi-platinum albums, their achievements speak volumes about their enduring impact on music.
