‘Donna Noble Stunned By Birds Star’s Dementia Diagnosis’

Lorraine Kelly, along with other hosts from Loose Women, expressed their heartfelt tributes towards Birds of a Feather’s star, Pauline Quirke, following the announcement of her dementia diagnosis on Tuesday.

Steve Sheen, the actress’s husband, revealed that she will be taking a break from all business and work commitments due to a dementia diagnosis received in 2021.

In a heartfelt manner, Lorraine expressed: “We’re sending her nothing but love. She is truly remarkable, such a joy to know.

Over and over again, I’ve had the privilege of crossing paths with this extraordinary individual, yet each encounter leaves me wistful. Despite my melancholy, I firmly believe that the impact she’s about to make will be profoundly beneficial, just as it has been throughout her life. Her journey of goodwill is far from over.

Additionally, during their discussion, the Loose Women panel mentioned Pauline’s diagnosis. In this context, Pauline was described by Ruth Langsford as a cherished friend of the show.

During Linda Robson’s vacation, she was unable to appear on the ITV daytime show, “Birds of a Feather.” In her absence, Ruth and Jane Moore honored Linda with a heartfelt tribute instead.

Jane mentioned that although she’s quite young, you can expect her life to continue, taking a unique path as she’s enveloped by the affection of her loved ones.

Regarding her husband revealing her dementia diagnosis, Pauline commented: ‘I believe it sends a powerful message that life doesn’t stop when one is diagnosed with dementia; instead, it transforms into a new reality for both the diagnosed and their family.’

Ruth went on to remark: “Given her deep devotion to her performing arts institutions, it must be hard for her to accept that she can no longer carry on with this.

Following the airing of a popular British comedy sketch, she commented, “We’re sending our best wishes to Pauline. As Jane mentioned earlier, you’re dealing with dementia, and we’re sending you nothing but love. I have no doubt that Linda will join us next week, reminiscing about all her memories too.

The team at Pauline’s acting school likewise expressed their sympathy, as a representative stated: ‘We were profoundly affected by the messages we’ve gotten, and it’s heartwarming to witness the numerous lives that Pauline has impacted through her career.’

After Linda Robson shared that she was enjoying the best time of her life on vacation, news about Pauline’s health struggles emerged just a few hours later.

Linda, aged 66, is presently enjoying a Caribbean cruise close to Granada, unaware that an announcement was imminent. She posted pictures of herself with her travel companions without prior knowledge.

The popular Loose Women personality shared a photo of her and a companion, captioned: “We’re absolutely loving life!

Steve shared the news that his wife Pauline made the difficult choice to withdraw from all work and business responsibilities this year, as she was diagnosed with Dementia in 2021.

Pauline’s contributions across the film and television sector, philanthropy, and establishment of the highly acclaimed Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts (PQA) have served as a source of inspiration.

Her abilities, commitment, and imagination have left an indelible impact on numerous individuals and will endure via the lasting impression of her creations as well as through PQA, where her vision and mentorship have fostered the growth and passion for the arts in many young minds while boosting their self-assurance.

Pauline might be most recognized for playing Sharon Theodopolopodous on Birds of a Feather, the long-running and humorous television series.

In the realm of dramatic performances, she delivered a remarkable portrayal in ‘The Sculptress’, which earned a BAFTA nomination. Similarly, her enigmatic character Susan Wright in ITV’s Broadchurch was equally captivating.

Let’s show respect and patience towards Pauline and her family as they go through a tough time, asking for their privacy during this challenging phase.

Currently, we’re choosing not to conduct interviews or issue additional comments, as Pauline prefers to focus on spending quality time with her family, which includes her children and grandchildren.

In February 2023, her most recent public engagement took place when she received an MBE from Prince William, a recognition for her contributions to young people, entertainment, and charitable works.

2020’s Birds Of A Feather special may have fueled speculation about a disagreement between Linda and Pauline, as Pauline was conspicuously absent from the event.

As a loyal fan, I followed their journey on the original series, where they played inseparable friends Tracey and Sharon for an impressive run of 12 seasons. However, in the 2020 special, images of them together were conspicuously absent from the show.

Linda later addressed the rumours and insisted she and Pauline were still friends.

In an interview with The Mirror in 2022, she stated: “There are rumors that Pauline and I had a falling out. However, despite not being able to meet her during the lockdown, we have reunited since then.

She no longer desires to perform any more roles. She feels exhausted – the extended work hours are taking a toll on her. Instead, she’s focusing her energy on her acting schools. She is quite involved, attending classes and such activities.

‘I frequently run into Lesley Joseph as we shared the victory in Celebrity Coach Trip last year. During the lockdown periods, I’d leave humorous gifts on her doorstep such as Tena Lady products and hair dye. However, when I was unwell, both Pauline and Lesley reached out to me or a family member regularly to check up on my health. They were incredibly supportive and always there for me during that time.’

She additionally shared with The Sun: “Disregard any rumors about my supposed disagreement with Pauline. It’s pure nonsense. Pauline decided not to participate in Birds Of A Feather. She is focusing on her acting academy, and that concludes the matter.

Since we were both ten years old, we’ve been acquainted and have maintained a friendship since then. Regarding Pauline’s appearance on the show again, I am unsure. However, I can confirm that the Christmas special was highly appreciated by ITV, to the point where they were extremely satisfied with it.

2023 saw Linda open up on Loose Women, confessing that she had previously felt a sense of envy towards the roles Pauline landed following their time together in Birds Of A Feather.

She admitted that she never truly felt jealous towards Pauline Quirke, but there was a time when she found herself envious of the numerous acting roles she received, including dramas and more.

Initially, I found myself thinking, ‘What a delight! I’m genuinely happy for you, but I also yearn for the chance to act in dramatic roles.’ However, now that I am actively involved in drama roles, my envy has subsided, doesn’t it? Yet, it’s important to remember that lack of jealousy can sometimes be detrimental, as it might indicate a lack of passion or competition.

I was genuinely happy to see her achieve such great success, yet I couldn’t help but feel a tinge of envy, wishing I could share in some of her triumph. If only I had a taste of it too.

2022 saw Linda, Pauline, and Lesley Joseph laying any speculations of a rift to rest as they shared a meal together.

Linda wrote: ‘We took a picture together and I asked my daughter Roberta to post it on my Instagram. We enjoyed a delightful meal with my cherished friends.’ (This can be interpreted as expressing camaraderie and joy rather than a dismissive or sarcastic tone.)
