Donna Farizan is leaving ‘Today’ after 12 years: ‘I’m challenging myself to spread my wings beyond the show’

On Monday’s episode of “Today With Jenna and Friends,” Donna Farizan, who regularly contributes to “Today,” announced that she was leaving the NBC morning show.

A year ago, Farizan initiated a series titled ‘Own Your Power,’ during which he committed to expressing his genuine thoughts. Now, after 12 years working with ‘Today,’ he’s pushing himself to venture beyond the show to discover new and thrilling professional prospects that may lie ahead.

Television

The weather presenter for ‘Today’ has harbored a long-standing affection for animation. Now, with his fresh weather-centric program airing on PBS Kids, he is at last fulfilling that cherished dream.

Later, at 34 years old, Farizan took some time to read a self-written letter that encapsulated the experiences and insights she gleaned from her stint on the show.

She remarked that navigating the realm of television and content can be daunting, as there’s no clear guide. However, she expressed her gratitude for having learned from Kathie Lee Gifford, Hoda Kotb, and Jenna Bush Hager, implying their mentorship. Now, Donna Farizan feels ready to blaze her own trail.

Initially joining “Today” as an intern at the age of 20, Farizan later transitioned into a full-time role after completing her studies at George Washington University located in Washington, D.C.

As a passionate admirer of the “Today” show, I’ve witnessed firsthand how Farizan has captivated audiences with her engaging game segments and moving stories. One segment that particularly resonated with me is “Own Your Power,” where she shares inspiring tales of individuals discovering their potential.

Moreover, Farizan doesn’t shy away from opening up about her own experiences. In fact, she’s penned heartfelt essays for Today.com, including one that candidly discussed her decision to freeze her eggs. It’s this level of authenticity and vulnerability that makes her a standout host in my book!

Entertainment & Arts

During a conversation on ‘Good Morning America’, Charlie Sheen openly talks about personal aspects he plans to share in his forthcoming memoir titled ‘The Sheen Memoir’.

The show’s staff joined Farizan, Hager and Guthrie onstage to bid their contributor farewell.

Farizan expressed gratitude to Hager for showing her that it’s sufficient to be oneself, and she informed Guthrie that Hager was among the journalists she focused on during her senior thesis at college.

As Farizan was wrapping up, she expressed gratitude to the audience for being a part of her journey and consistently supporting the program throughout its growth.
