Oh, man! I’ve been following Donald Glover’s career since his days as Troy Barnes on Community, and it’s always been an inspiring rollercoaster ride. From acting to music, writing, directing, and everything in between, he’s truly a modern-day renaissance man.

Donald Glover has cancelled the remainder of his tour as musical act Childish Gambino.

On Friday, the artist aged 41 shared that due to a health problem, he regrettably won’t be able to perform as scheduled, having previously entertained in Detroit just a few months prior.

On social media platforms (Instagram and another), where he has an impressive follower base totaling 7.8 million, he posted a thorough post.

Following my spectacular performance in New Orleans, I found myself rushing to the hospital in Houston due to an unexpected health concern. Upon examination, it was evident that I wouldn’t be able to grace the stage that very night. After undergoing additional tests, it turned out that I couldn’t fulfill my remaining commitments on the US tour within the requested timeframe.

He went on to say: ‘Currently, I’ve got a surgery planned and I must take time off to recover. Facing my road to healing requires my full attention.’

In light of this, we’ve chosen to regretfully call off the rest of our North American concerts as well as those scheduled for the UK and Europe.

After delaying several dates initially scheduled for early September, he announced that he needed to prioritize his personal health.

At the time he instructed would-be concertgoers to keep their tickets.

He assured everyone to keep their tickets safe, as all of them will still be valid for the future dates in North America once they’ve been rescheduled. He expressed his gratitude for everyone’s understanding, appreciation, and kindness. This was posted on platform X.

In his message on Friday, Glover expressed that ‘Refunds for tickets can be obtained where they were originally purchased. Above all else, I yearn to present this show to the fans and entertain them. For now, thank you for your affection, understanding of my privacy, and backing.’

Earlier this year, the artist behind “This Is America” announced that he intends to stop using the Childish Gambino persona.

He explained to the New York Times that it had become more like, “Ah, it’s finished. It’s not satisfying,” for him. And from then on, he felt as though he no longer required constructing things in the same manner.

The tour was intended to include 33 stops across the US, beginning in Oklahoma City on August 11.

The North American leg of the tour was slated to end in Chicago on October 3.

In addition to making music, Glover is a writer and actor.

He was both the lead actor and director for the FX series Atlanta, which concluded with its final episode in season four during November 2022.

Earlier this year he starred alongside Maya Erskine in Amazon Prime’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith series.

In the month of January, he tied the knot with his long-term companion, Michelle White, who is also the mother of their three boys: Legend, Drake, and Donald.
