Domenica Calarco’s Shocking Pregnancy Struggles: Hospitalized and Losing Weight!

Domenica Calarco, a celebrity from Married At First Sight, shared that she’s currently in the hospital because of an illness during her first pregnancy.

This past week, I spilled the beans in an Instagram Q&A about my recent health woes. Seems like old man Graves’ disease (thyroiditis) has paid me a couple of unwelcome visits, necessitating a pair of hospital trips.

As a lifestyle consultant, I found myself making two unexpected visits to the hospital during the initial phase of my pregnancy, mainly due to fluid issues and close monitoring of my baby when my thyroiditis reached its height!

As a devoted follower, I’d like to mention that Dom openly disclosed she shed about 13 pounds during pregnancy, mainly because of her health condition. She expressed concerns about potential criticism regarding this weight loss.

She stated that she recently shed about 13 pounds, leaving her feeling somewhat hollow. Now, she’s attempting to regain weight and consume as much food as possible, even though her appetite isn’t particularly strong at the moment. She described it as a process or journey.

Thyroiditis refers to a health issue characterized by swelling or inflammation of the thyroid gland, frequently due to an autoimmune disorder known as Hashimoto’s disease.

Dom recently confirmed she will be a solo parent, days after announcing her pregnancy. 

This week, there was speculation that the previous reality TV personality may have ended her relationship with Jarod Bogunovich, as she removed any evidence of the Bondi skater from her online platforms.

On Saturday, Domenica openly shared with Daily Mail Australia that she intends to raise her child alone following the separation, clarifying the speculations about their relationship split.

She expressed great enthusiasm about the upcoming phase of her life, feeling strongly empowered by her choice to embark on motherhood according to her own plans, she stated.

As I navigate my journey as a single parent, I’m thankful for the father’s role as a partner in raising our child together.

On season nine of the popular show back in 2022, Domenica openly expressed that she’s fully immersing herself in this experience.

‘I’ve been absent for a while as I’ve been focusing on an incredible project……It’s a baby!’ This is how the Married at First Sight alum labeled her post announcing her pregnancy, which was shared on Thursday.

She added: ‘Due September 2025 #pregnancyannouncement #pregnant.’

On Sundays, Domenica kindly requests her followers to honor her personal space. She shares that she feels ‘proud’ about the significant choice she’s made, not only for herself but also for her growing baby.

She enthusiastically accepts this journey, including its ups and downs, and feels incredibly honored to take on this new role as a single mom, doing so with courage, affection, and a strong sense of mission,” she expressed.

I’d like to express my admiration and solidarity for those opting to raise a family on their own. It takes great courage and wisdom to make decisions that are best for both you and your child.

The dark-haired celebrity recently responded to a post by social media star Sasha Morpeth, who was talking about a difficult split. She wrote, “I guess I’m part of that group now, ugh.

They made their relationship public on Instagram in September, following the renewal of their romance after Domenica’s marriage on Married at First Sight to Jack Millar fell apart.

On Bumble in the year 2021, Domenica and Jarod crossed paths for the first time. Before she got selected for Australia’s highly-rated TV show, she went out on a date with him.

The timing wasn’t quite right, she later revealed, and they went their separate ways.

Years later, they bumped into one another at a boxing gym Pad Flow in Sydney, and reconnected.

In her Instagram Stories, Dom revealed she was 14 weeks pregnant. Jarod was absent from the post.

Just last October, Domenica shared with Daily Mail Australia that the universe had provided her with a wonderful partner, as she recounted their love story.

‘Jarod has the best smile in the world,’ she said. ‘Whenever he smiles at me, I melt.’

It’s truly wonderful to encounter someone now, as I’ve just emerged from a challenging phase in my life.

She mentioned that Jarrod remained supportive during the time she was in the hospital, focusing on managing her mental health following a highly publicized friendship split with her co-host Ella Ding on their podcast.

‘He didn’t run away. We actually got closer during that time,’ she confessed.

Domenica said she will not be commenting further on her relationship status during her pregnancy.
