Dolly Parton health update after more cancelations and sister’s worrying pleas for prayers

Dolly Parton is recovering well and is expected to be healthy enough to perform at her planned Las Vegas shows next fall, according to the Daily Mail.

The 79-year-old country music legend had to cancel another public appearance this week, raising worries about her health.

Oh my gosh, you guys, I was so excited to hear from Dolly! She looked absolutely incredible – a shimmering blue dress and all dolled up, as always – and she finally explained why she couldn’t make it to the IAAPA Hall of Fame thing. I was dying to know, and she told all of us her fans directly! It’s just…Dolly being a sweetheart, even when she has to disappoint us a little.

Dolly explained she was disappointed she couldn’t be there in person. She’s been having some health issues this fall, and her doctors have advised her to rest and take things easy for a bit.

This latest cancellation follows Dolly Parton missing the Governors Awards, where she received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. It also comes shortly after her sister, Frieda Parton, used Facebook to ask fans to send prayers for her.

Sean McBurney, president of Caesars Palace, expressed his team’s enthusiasm for Dolly and confirmed she is doing well.

During the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, he announced that the Grammy-winning artist will begin her performances in September 2026 as part of her ‘Dolly: Live in Las Vegas’ residency at the famous Colosseum venue, and everything is still on schedule.

Dolly originally planned to perform in Las Vegas from December 4th to 13th, but she announced in September that she had to postpone the shows in a personal message to her fans.

The singer, known for her hit ‘Jolene,’ recently shared that she’s been facing some health issues and needs to undergo medical procedures, as advised by her doctors.

Everyone was talking about her retiring, but she quickly shut that down! She explained that she’d keep working as long as she felt called to, saying she hadn’t received any sign from a higher power that it was time to stop. It’s so reassuring to hear her say that – she’s a true inspiration and I’m glad she’s not going anywhere anytime soon!

I feel like God is encouraging me to take things a little slower at the moment, so I can recharge and be fully present for future experiences with all of you. I appreciate your love and understanding.

As more commitments were cancelled, fans of Dolly grew worried about her health.

Dolly Parton’s sister, Stella, revealed in October that Dolly was being treated for kidney stones.

Her manager in the UK also stated at the time that Frieda wasn’t seriously ill. Olly Rowland mentioned in October that the request for prayers had been exaggerated.

Dolly recently posted a sweet Thanksgiving message on Instagram, and she looked fantastic in a fashionable tweed jacket!

In a recent video, she expressed her gratitude to her fans and fondly remembered the experiences they’ve had together, appearing happy and positive.

In Las Vegas, McBurney reports that people are incredibly eager to get tickets for what’s now the most popular show in town.

Having worked at Caesars Palace for two decades, I’ve seen huge demand for many artists – Celine Dion, Elton John, and Adele, to name a few. But the number of requests we received for Dolly Parton was incredible – far beyond anything we’d experienced before,” said the hotel’s president.

‘This will be, I think, the busiest year we’ve had in a decade at the Colosseum.’ 

Dolly’s new Las Vegas concert dates are for September 17, 19, 20, 23, 25, and 26, 2026.

Before the country singer comes back, Jennifer Lopez will finish 2025 with a spectacular New Year’s Eve concert at the Colosseum.
