Story Highlights
- Doki Doki Literature Club removed from Google Play Store over sensitive content concerns.
- Devs are actively working to bring the game back to Android.
- The team is also exploring alternative distribution options if reinstatement takes time.
Serenity Forge announced that their popular psychological horror game, Doki Doki Literature Club, is no longer available on the Google Play Store, which surprised many fans. The game, created by Team Salvato, was released on mobile devices in December 2025, and the developers are currently working to get it back on the store.
Devs highlight the game’s meaningful impact amid Google’s removal
Google took down the game DDLC, according to the developers, because it broke their rules about showing sensitive content. While the platform likely objected to some of the game’s mature themes, the decision feels both reasonable and disappointing, considering how DDLC is known for its experimental storytelling.
A statement regarding the removal of DDLC from the Google Play Store:
— Serenity Forge (@SerenityForge) April 9, 2026
DDLC has always been highly regarded for its sensitive and relatable portrayal of mental health, connecting with people all over the world. I agree with the creator’s sentiment that many players felt seen, understood, and less isolated in their own struggles. That’s why this recent change feels unfair to me and to many other fans.
The developers shared how rewarding it’s been to see players connect with each other through the game’s story. For the game’s creator, Dan Salvato, this positive impact is a driving force behind his future work, which he hopes will help people, particularly those who feel isolated, find connection.
The team is working toward Google Play reinstatement while considering alternative options
DDLC is currently available on iOS and consoles. The team is working hard to get it back on the Google Play Store, and they’re exploring other options for Android users in case that takes a while or doesn’t work out.
I’m optimistic about how this will turn out, because the developers are clearly working hard. They’ve also expressed gratitude for the great support from Android fans these past few months. We’ll keep you updated as things progress.
