Dogma 2 Is Happening? Kevin Smith Drops Huge Update That Has Fans Going Wild!
Although it’s thrilling to look forward to the fresh and enticing movies lined up in 2025, events like the 25th anniversary revival of “Dogma” don’t simply appear out of nowhere. After years of being unavailable due to a complex rights issue, Kevin Smith has been taking the film on a tour for a unique roadshow experience. This culminates in tonight’s early screenings, marking its wide release.
Surprisingly, you might have thought that Mr. Smith’s successful showing at Cannes marked the end of the tale, but it seems there’s more to come. After much conjecture, the creator himself has shared with me a revelation – yes, fans, it looks like a sequel to Dogma, or Dogma 2, could very well become a reality.
Hey Kids, Kevin Smith Is Working On Dogma 2!
It came as a shock to many, including me, to learn that there might be a follow-up to the controversial film in Kevin Smith’s View Askew universe. Although I had been curious about any news regarding it, Smith’s past statements about Dogma 2 (through X) seemed to suggest that it only existed as an idea in his mind.
However, when I attempted to inquire about the progress of the popcorn bucket related to Dogma, Kevin Smith unexpectedly tossed a surprise into his discussion with TopMob.
Hopefully, there will be a popcorn bucket on hand, but if not today, then perhaps it will be the focus of Dogma 2. I am currently immersed in writing it, having already penned 15 pages and finding great pleasure in the process. If I weren’t conversing with you, I would be here engrossed in my writing.
Initially, it appeared that fans might have misunderstood his initial thoughts about a comedic series from last autumn, which we later came to know as “Dogma 2”. Frankly, I had a sense of unease, almost like a personal form of “Catholic Guilt”, because, hypothetically, I felt that I might be hindering the process.
To clarify, it’s important to note that the esteemed filmmaker from New Jersey, who created the “Clerks” Trilogy, was undoubtedly delighted by the revival of “Dogma”. However, when I realized there might have been potential ideas for future projects left unexplored, I felt a sense of penitence. This led me to seek additional information from Brother Kevin, in an attempt to faithfully disseminate the gospel.
It’s clear that Alan (Rickman) and George (Carlin) are gone, but if they choose to return, they certainly can. However, the story doesn’t necessarily need the original cast to unfold. There will be opportunities for everyone involved, as this is a fresh adventure that, upon watching the movie, you’ll say, “Ah, I see. I get it.” Within the first few minutes, you’ll grasp exactly what we’re up to, and it’ll be fulfilling. You might even think, “Of course, this could only be the Dogma sequel.
Simply because they’re working on “Dogma 2” doesn’t guarantee it will definitely come to life. Those who are eagerly waiting for “Ranger Danger and the Danger Rangers”, “Moose Jaws”, or “Twilight of the Mallrats” would agree, regardless of how thrilling this news might seem. However, if you’re hoping for something beyond just a sequel to “Dogma”, you’re in for a treat!

A Very Special Alan Rickman Tribute Is Also On The Way
During a past interview related to the Jay and Silent Bob Tracer Pack in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, discussions touched on future plans for Dogma in 2025. At that time, our attention primarily lay on the theatrical release of the 1999 original film, with Jason Mewes expressing his role in Call of Duty as his most cherished acting experience to date.
In another conversation with TopMob, Kevin Smith disclosed that a unique edition of his comic anthology titled Quick Stops was forthcoming. This news, as you might have surmised, brings a mixed feeling for fans of the late and celebrated Alan Rickman.
This year, we have an upcoming topic revolving around Metatron titled ‘In Honor of Alan.’
As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but trace the roots of this project back to a specific comic title. The untimely demise of the remarkable Alan Rickman in 2016 continues to cast a long shadow, touching not only his loved ones but also countless fans like myself. This issue of Quick Stops, undeniably, aims to honor Rickman’s exceptional acting prowess – yet, as our conversation unfolded further, Smith shared an intriguing insight: his entire filmography holds a unique and cherished place in his heart.
Similar to how Jay and Silent Bob Reboot incorporated Loki into their storyline, we could insert Loki into our narrative as well. Matt reappeared in a Loki costume, narrating a brief tale. For me, these movies are like a persistent case of a chronic condition – they stick with me forever, much like herpes. It’s always amusing when characters from the films return to interact with them over time, and I can’t help but think, ‘I’ve been here since you wrapped up that set.’ In essence, Dogma remains an integral part of my world; it hasn’t left me behind – quite the contrary, I continue to live in its realm.
In a way that mirrors numerous tales from sacred texts, I find it fascinating that Kevin Smith seemed to prophesy the return of the film “Dogma” through his work. It’s as if divine intervention made this revival happen. Now, we get to witness the original, magnificently restored in 4K, once again gracing the big screen. For those fortunate enough attending Smodcastle Cinema’s “Watch with Kev” screening tonight, don’t forget to express your gratitude to Brother Kevin for his tireless work.
