Doesn’t Care,” Feels “Orphaned
Matt Goss shared that he experiences a sense of being “left behind” or “disowned” by his family, as he discussed the strained connection with his twin brother Luke.
In 1986, the twin brothers, who were both 56 years old at the time, teamed up with their friend Craig Logan to create the band Bros and subsequently gained considerable recognition.
In 1988, the siblings tragically lost their sister Carolyn due to a strange car accident, and later in 2014, they also mourned the loss of their mother Carol, who passed away from breast cancer.
Even though they both grieve over the same issue, Matt affirmed last year that he doesn’t communicate with his sibling anymore.
In an interview with OK! Magazine, I shared my feelings of being largely unsupported within my family. I mentioned that while my father and stepfather are the only ones who truly stand by me, I often feel like an orphan, lacking the emotional support I’d hope to receive from other family members. This situation has persisted for quite a while now.
Matt also admitted that he wished he had his ‘sister’s energy to bring some glue to this family’.

He went on to say: ‘We all remain silent, which seems unusual. I often feel as though I don’t have a family who truly cares for me, and this has deeply impacted me. In response, I strive to give my utmost effort in every way possible.’
If you find yourself in a situation that mirrors what’s described here, keep this in mind: Family bonds should never dictate your well-being. They might intrude, scrutinize, or invade your space, which isn’t beneficial for you. Just because they are family doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your own health and happiness.
TopMob has contacted representatives for Luke for comment.
After Matt openly admitted last year in an interview that he is entirely cut off from his twin brother, he expressed to The Guardian that he no longer wished to conceal the truth about their relationship.
‘When you do your best, that is enough,’ he said. ‘And I’ve done my best. I really have.’
When questioned about the cause of our estrangement, he straightforwardly replied: ‘It’s a complex matter. I prefer not to elaborate excessively, due to my regard for him. Let me clarify that it’s not all sweetness and light, as it is far from that.’
Matt likewise voiced his remorse that they didn’t persist with their musical journey jointly, stating: ‘I still believe we shouldn’t have parted ways. We could have simply weathered the difficulties together.’
The band brothers achieved approximately 16 million album sales, however, their fortunes took a turn for the worse in 1992 when their popularity started to decline. Luke, their drummer, grew tired of constantly feeling overshadowed and decided it was time to move on.

It became evident that the rapid rise to fame had put a strain, both individually and professionally, on the two brothers.
The sibling rivalry between them has long been a popular discussion topic, and it was also the focus of their 2018 documentary titled “Bros: After the Screaming Stops.” This film showcased clips from their short-lived reconciliation.
During his interview on Lorraine, Matt expressed that finding it tough to view their documentary as it displayed numerous aspects of dysfunction.
Reflecting on the events that unfolded subsequently, I found myself being approached by individuals who shared their own stories of dysfunction. Men in particular would approach me, expressing their struggles and acknowledging, “We, too, are dysfunctional.
There’s quite a bit of strain within our family. Often, we seek solace with friends as family can occasionally overstep boundaries or know just the right ‘triggers’ to push…
As an ardent enthusiast, I’ve come to embody a personal creed: striving for my utmost best is paramount. Regardless of the outcome, I can proudly assert that I’ve given it my all. If fortune doesn’t smile upon me, that’s alright. After all, life belongs to me, and I must chart my own course.
