Does 28 Years Later have a post-credit scene?

28 Years After is now playing in theaters, possibly launching a new horror trilogy that continues the narrative from 28 Days Later.

In January 2026, you can expect to see the next chapter, “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,” in movie theaters as it has already been filmed. You may wonder if there’s a post-credits scene in the original “28 Years Later” to give a sneak peek of the sequel.

Indeed, it’s important to clarify that the movie titled “28 Years Later” does not feature any post-credits or credit scenes at all.

What to Read Next

Once the ending credits begin, feel free to depart without worrying about missing much, except for quick glimpses of the movie’s key moments that may appear during the credit sequence.

In the movie “28 Years Later”, not having a closing credit sequence doesn’t necessarily imply that there are no clues about what might happen next in the sequel.

The final scene of the recently released film “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple” is bound to spark debate about its interpretation, which is exactly what producer Danny Boyle, who didn’t direct the sequel, intended.

He shared with IndieWire, “The setup in this project carries great importance.” He clarified, “It isn’t a sequel. There’s no sense of an unfinished story… The film stands independently. However, there’s a surprising twist at the end that might leave viewers thinking, ‘Oh my!’ We’ll see how it’s received. It certainly offers something unique.

Boyle hinted that both Ralph Fiennes’ character Dr. Ian Kelson and Jack O’Connell’s character Sir Jimmy Crystal will significantly expand their roles in the upcoming sequel, potentially becoming key figures.

Notably, Cillian Murphy will once again take on the character of Jim in “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple“. Subsequently, he is set to assume a substantial part in the upcoming third installment.

Sadly, Murphy doesn’t appear in 28 Years Later, as previously confirmed by Boyle.

28 Years Later is out now in cinemas.
