Doctor’s holiday meltdown over restaurant bill… Plus, why a socialite split from her rebound right as her divorce was finalised – and Myer heiress marries: THE GROUP CHAT WITH LUCY MANLY

Greetings! You’re invited to join our exclusive chatroom, “The Group Chat with Lucy Manly“, where you can get a sneak peek at the latest buzz and juiciest tidbits about Australian high society, all before they become headlines!

Farewell, cowboy

Their rebound romance had the eastern suburbs gossips leaning in.

However, it’s been confirmed that socialite Jessica Bowditch and Texas financier Denham Schiff have ended their relationship, which had lasted nearly a year.

In 2024, I found myself crossing paths with another individual when our separate marital journeys came to an end. We bonded over shared experiences and decided to explore a new chapter together, one that was built on understanding and respect.

Subscribing to our Showbiz Newsletter from DailyMail keeps you updated with the latest on A-list scandals, red carpet blunders, unique photos, and trending video clips – don’t miss out!

Interestingly, these events occurred one after the other: the completion of the ink drying on Jessica’s divorce papers with her ex-banker husband Dyson Bowditch, and the discreet transaction of their previous matrimonial residence in Darling Point.

‘Honestly, it was all very grown-up,’ says a source familiar with the break-up.

They didn’t have any dramatic incidents or scandals; instead, they realized they had varying goals and desires.

From Dallas, Denham has spent a significant portion of his time in both Sydney and America. However, according to confidants, he may not have ever truly found his footing or established a permanent home here.

It’s highly unlikely that the abrupt dissolution of his marriage with Juliet Anderson, a Double Bay boutique owner who moved on to another man during the pandemic, brought any sense of comfort or familiarity to him.

The friend points out, “I believe he won’t live in Australia permanently.” He’s often maintained a connection to America. On the other hand, Jess seems deeply rooted in Sydney; it feels like home to her.

After parting ways with her family home several months back, Jessica, a mother of two at the age of 38, has decided to reside in the neighboring area of Bellevue Hill instead.

As a die-hard admirer, I can’t help but share my excitement over the news that the ex-TV producer has just acquired a stunning three-bedroom abode, boasting breathtaking harbor vistas! To add to the marvel, this modern sanctuary is adorned with chic interiors, masterfully crafted by an elite design studio.

In the meantime, it’s whispered that Dyson, Barrenjoey’s joint head of equity markets (who happens to be her ex-husband), is reportedly dating Chloe Hayes, a 26-year-old account director. From what we can see, she appears to be having a delightful time during her sunny European vacation.

As a lifestyle expert, I must say, the question of whether Dyson is physically accompanying his girlfriend on their adventures or merely covering the expenses is still up in the air. Interestingly, there hasn’t been a single snapshot of him on her Instagram yet.

Doc’s Euro whinge

Every week, I share some amusing insights from my informants residing in the high-class neighborhoods of Perth.

As a routine feature in my article, I present entertaining tidbits gleaned from my sources hailing from upscale Perth suburbs.

This week, I’ve found myself utterly captivated by none other than Dr. Deb Cohen-Jones, a name that might ring a bell as the business companion of our beloved frequent Group Chat guest, Dr. Clara Hurst.

It’s uncertain if they will continue as business partners for a long time, as there are rumors that they have had a disagreement.

Apparently, it seems that Deb’s constant grumbling about her latest European family trip on Instagram has stirred quite a buzz among the gossips in Western Australia.

What went so terribly wrong, I hear you ask?

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I had anticipated picturesque sunsets and refreshing spritzes, but alas, upon my arrival, my feet were less than svelte after the economy-class journey. However, I soon learned that an ‘Italian first class’ train compartment isn’t about sprawling out—it’s a five-hour affair of making your suitcase your seatmate.

And things only went downhill from there.

An exquisite meal at a highly acclaimed, Instagram-friendly eatery unexpectedly became a calamity for Deb. As the evening progressed, it dawned on her that the tasting menu priced at €250 per person (without alcohol) would amount to a staggering $2,000 in total expenses.

‘I literally felt sick,’ she confessed to her followers. Will she ever financially recover?

Later on, there were beaches that felt less like the charming Italian lifestyle and more akin to Bondi Beach during a sweltering summer’s day. Deb described them as being crowded with people, a phrase that seemed fitting as she hurriedly sought out a secluded beach club to escape the commotion.

What else went wrong?

She brought five pairs of heels and wore two. She packed activewear she didn’t touch.

Later, she attempted to reason with the rude hotel manager in Italian concerning the faulty air conditioning, yet her tactful approach was unsuccessful. By 8 pm, the entire family had vacated the premises, hauling their belongings through the city streets in search of another accommodation.

Dr Deb went on to denounce Monopoli as ‘the crappest town in Puglia by far’.

(For what it’s worth, I’ve been there and rather enjoyed it.)

Still, there was a satisfying end to her whinge-a-thon.

She advised her adventurous travel companions not to park in spaces marked ‘no parking’ in Italy, as the owner might impose a fine or tow your vehicle instead.

In typical Dr. Deb style, she concluded the post with an emotional message about cherished moments and memories that endure despite their imperfections.

Bless.

Myer heiress ties the knot

As you read this, an heiress to the Myer fortune is getting married in France.

As an ardent admirer, let me share with you that the radiant bride on this special day is none other than Lillian Myer – a remarkable woman who carries the distinguished lineage of the philanthropic duo, Andrew and Kerry, as their cherished daughter. But what truly sets her apart is her direct descent from the legendary Sidney Myer, the visionary who brought to life the iconic department store that continues to captivate us all.

It seems that her fiancé is Nathan Brown, but beyond his name, there isn’t much else I can share as they tend to keep things private, being part of the wealthy elite.

Since July 11, I’ve been following the details of Lillian’s society wedding. Lillian, a Deloitte employee based in New York, posted pictures on that day showing her picking up her wedding dress from KYHA Studios, situated in Lower Manhattan.

This week, her bachelorette celebration took place in the elegant city of Paris. Unlike typical Australian hen parties, there were no strippers present at this event!

Currently, she is set to make her wedding vows in the beautiful region of Provence. As soon as further information becomes available, I will promptly share it with you first.

One intriguing detail is that one of the bridesmaids is Mila Mary, a native of Perth who is in a relationship with Bijan Tehrani, a wealthy entrepreneur in the cryptocurrency and casino industries.
