Doctor Who boss Russell T Davies has revealed a particular “challenge” with the show’s new season.
Next month, the series is set to come back for its 15th season, introducing a new character, Belinda Chandra played by Varada Sethu, who will be joining Ncuti Gatwa as they both embark on their adventures together within the TARDIS.
As a dedicated gamer, I’d put it this way: Just like some classic characters from the past – Ian, Barbara, and Tegan – Belinda is a companion yearning for her home world. Davies, the mastermind behind the scenes, has shared this detail with Doctor Who Magazine.
Despite some unidentified factor, she can’t come back home, which unfortunately means that the “crucial” aspect of contemporary Earth won’t manifest at all during this particular season.
In his own words through Den of Geek, Davies stated, “Indeed, it signifies preventing the TARDIS from approaching contemporary Earth.” Typically, I believe revisiting the present is crucial, so avoiding it throughout an entire series has been quite a challenge for me.

The show producer playfully added: “Provoking Belinda’s desire to go back home provides an interesting dynamic. She isn’t enamored with the Doctor’s lifestyle or the TARDIS, yet she eventually grows to enjoy it.
Initially, she might hide her feelings, but later acknowledges that they’re outstanding. However, the feeling isn’t ordinary – it engages various aspects. It also involves a certain level of performance. Remarkably, Janet Fielding excelled at this when portraying Tegan.
In a conversation last year about becoming a part of it, Varada expressed her feelings as follows: “I feel like I’ve won the lottery of existence! Being a part of the Whoniverse is truly an honor, and I am deeply thankful to the entire Doctor Who family for their warm welcome and making me feel so comfortable here.

There isn’t a better duo than Ncuti and Millie for this journey; it’s just so enjoyable!”
“I couldn’t ask for a more fitting team than Ncuti and Millie for this adventure, it’s an absolute blast!
Prior to the April comeback of “Doctor Who”, several guest stars have been revealed in recent times. These include Charlie Condou from “Unforgotten”, Kadiff Kirwan and Freddie Fox from “Slow Horses”, along with Alan Cumming, a star from “The Traitors US”, and Rylan Clark, a well-known presenter.
The popular series, “Doctor Who,” makes its comeback on April 12th on BBC One within the United Kingdom and on Disney+ everywhere else. If you’re in the UK, you can also catch classic episodes of “Doctor Who” on BBC iPlayer.
