Showrunner Russell T Davies offers tantalizing glimpses into what’s in store for us in the upcoming series of Doctor Who.
In a delightful turn of events, the sci-fi BBC show is set to return on April 12 for its season 15! The new season will feature Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor accompanied by Varada Sethu, who will take on the role of Belinda Chandra, the latest addition as the Doctor’s partner.
In a conversation with Radio Times, Davies shared that, like the previous episodes, his aim is for the series to deliver a sense of “joy” directly to the audience.
He expressed that “Doctor Who” is the most thrilling television series globally, inviting others to partake, encouraging them to experience the excitement and joy it offers.
Riding this is like an exciting adventure. You’ll laugh at the funniest jokes, jump at the biggest fright, and meet some truly bizarre creatures!
Doctor Who is a grand, heartfelt series. It’s bold and spirited; it offers a vast journey. Simply sit back, join in, and I guarantee you’ll have a fantastic experience, without a doubt.

Four out of the season’s total eight episodes were written by external authors – Juno Dawson, Sharma Angel-Walfall, Pete McTighe, and Inua Ellams. As creators like Davies put it, their contributions have brought a fresh perspective to the show.
Davies mentioned that each individual carries their past experiences and origins, such as Inua Ellams, who based one of his episodes in Lagos.

He has formed numerous friendships for the Doctor within an entirely fresh narrative, devoid of apprehension. Not a moment is spent on hesitation or contemplation about whether this was previously done, such as ‘Did they do this in 1985?'”
“The Doctor has established many friendships in a completely new storyline, without any trace of fear or doubt. There’s no questioning if something like this was done before.
Despite having always watched Doctor Who, he was entirely free from its constraints. This new take on familiar concepts offers a refreshing perspective. The episode features the TARDIS performing actions it has never undertaken before, which is nothing short of exhilarating and invigorating.
The character Doctor Who is set to make a comeback on April 12, airing simultaneously on BBC One and BBC iPlayer within the United Kingdom. For viewers outside the UK, you can catch up with Doctor Who on Disney+. Additionally, if you’re in the UK, you can access classic episodes of Doctor Who on BBC iPlayer.
