Doctor Who’s Russell T Davies addresses potential crossover

Showrunner Russell T Davies has discussed the potential for a crossover between “Doctor Who” and the forthcoming spin-off show, titled “The War Between the Land and the Sea“.

In July, it was officially announced that a new five-episode limited series set in the universe of Doctor Who would be released, centering around the team at UNIT as they face a potential global conflict following the emergence of an ancient alien race.

Excitement abounds for the upcoming spin-off featuring Russell Tovey and Gugu Mbatha-Raw, even without a set release date. Creator Phil Davies, who co-wrote the miniseries with Pete McTighe, has hinted at the possibility of a connection between this new series and the original program.

Davies shared with TV Insider that they’ll wait and see how things unfold. If there seems to be interest in a crossover event, then it could happen. However, for now, such an occurrence isn’t part of the plan. He cautions against making these worlds too intricate, as simplicity can sometimes be more appealing.

However, this tale stands uniquely on its own, starring Russell Tovey and Gugu Mbatha-Raw, a pleasure to collaborate with such talented individuals. These are the kind of actors one dreams of working alongside, inspiring growth, camaraderie, and admiration. They truly shine in their roles, and I’m thrilled for you to witness it. It’s a delightful production that I can’t wait to share with you.

In January, Davies admitted that the spin-off was “quite far” from being broadcasted, but he also praised it as one of the most outstanding productions of his entire professional journey.
