Doctor Who’s Ncuti Gatwa praises “legendary” co-star following exit
Doctor Who spoilers follow.
Ncuti Gatwa, who played Doctor Who, has commended his remarkable fellow actor Jodie Whittaker after leaving the series.
As a dedicated Whovian, I can hardly contain my excitement as I reflect on last Saturday’s gripping season finale. The chapter of Jodie Whitaker’s tenure as the fifteenth Doctor came to a close with an awe-inspiring regeneration scene. Billie Piper, who we fondly remember as Rose Tyler, graced our screens once more after a 12-year hiatus, seemingly slipping into the role previously held by the Doctor herself.

In addition, the thrilling episode named ‘The Reality War’ featured the surprising comeback of Whittaker, who once again took on the character of the Thirteenth Time Lord.
In a touching moment, Whittaker’s doctor was unexpectedly transported from her own timeline into the TARDIS. This timely intervention prevented the current Doctor from causing a disastrous rift in the Time Vortex. After a heartfelt meeting, they shared a warm embrace, and then Gatwa’s character resumed his noble mission.
On social media, Gatwa expressed his admiration for collaborating with Whittaker during the final episode, also posting a photo showing two Time Lords in an embrace.
He expressed immense pleasure and honor in collaborating with the iconic Jodie, which he shared on his Instagram story. A big thank you to her!
On the official Doctor Who Instagram, they shared some snaps of this duo, and here’s what their caption said: “You know, even the Doctor could use a Doctor every now and then…” (In essence, it implies that sometimes, even the Doctor – a character known for being a time-traveling alien – might require assistance.)
The fan section overflowed with ecstatic fans lauding the unexpected guest role. One enthusiast commented, “What a fantastic surprise! I thought there might be another appearance by Susan, but Jodie was simply amazing,” alluding to Carole Ann Ford’s latest portrayal as Susan Foreman.
Another viewer commented, “The most impressive episode of the season and a stellar performance by @ncutigatwa – we’ll really miss you!” Meanwhile, another fan referred to them as “two doctors who didn’t get enough screen time together.
“Absolutely amazing to see Jodie back! Bounced so well with Ncuti,” added another fan.
