Doctor Who’s Most Ridiculous Episode Yet: A Eurovision Disaster?

It’s being said that an episode with a theme reminiscent of the Eurovision Song Contest may soon air on Doctor Who, potentially making it the costliest episode produced thus far.

The science fiction series starring Ncuti Gatwa as the 15th Time Lord is preparing to air an episode that aligns with the ongoing competition.

2021’s Eurovision event is scheduled to unfold at St. Jakobshalle, Basel, Switzerland, commencing on the 13th and concluding on the 17th of May.

According to writer Juno Dawson, the upcoming episode promises to be exceptionally big, as there are no bounds to creativity.

According to a source, it could be likened to the Eurovision contest held in space. Expect performances, contests, and perhaps a surprise appearance by Graham Norton. The possibilities are endless.

Juno added: ‘It’s the most ridiculous episode they’ve ever done – and the most expensive.’

She went on saying, “The creativity knows no bounds in this series. I truly believe it’s the finest television production yet. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed. This installment is absolutely monumental.

The announcement arrives alongside reports suggesting that Doctor Who might be cancelled, and it’s rumored that the main actor, Ncuti, is close to resigning.

Recently, the popular science fiction series has experienced a significant decline in viewership, allegedly due to viewers growing tired of the inclusion of socially and politically progressive narratives.

In 2023, the 32-year-old Scottish actor became a part of the series following Jodie Whittaker’s departure as the Time Lord character. However, there are whispers that he might leave the BBC program after only two seasons.

Reports indicate that the fate of the show won’t be decided until the second season featuring Ncuti airs later this year, which is when the bosses will make their final decision.

There are rumors that Ncuti has already shot his “Regeneration” farewell scene, leaving fans to speculate if this might mark the conclusion of the series after an impressive 62-year run.

According to a source, Ncuti has no intention of continuing with the series past this point and is planning to move to Los Angeles, where he has several film projects waiting for him.

His team is concerned about the negative reactions from fans regarding the series, as they aim to prevent his ongoing association with The Doctor from potentially impacting any future projects.

They went on to say, ‘Recently, the show has been mishandled, leading to many long-time team members being overlooked because of ineffective leadership.’

The source mentioned that there had been concerns expressed that the episodes were overly fixated on a particular theme, instead of effectively narrating a story. It seems these individuals were dismissed or not heeded in their opinions.

TopMob have contacted representatives of BBC and Ncuti for comment.

As per the report, Ncuti’s initial series drew anywhere from 2.25 million to 3.18 million viewers, significantly fewer than past series.

In 2020, Ncuti Gatwa became the first black actor to portray the main character, The Doctor, following Jodie Whittaker’s groundbreaking role as the first continuous female Time Lord in 2017.

In the realm of popular culture, I found my breakthrough by embodying the character of the charismatic gay teen, Eric Effiong, on the hit Netflix series Sex Education.
