Doctor Who stars Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper are teaming up again for a spooky new audio drama from Big Finish. The actors, known for their roles as the Ninth Doctor and Rose Tyler, previously collaborated on The Ninth Doctor Adventures series.
The series began in August with the episode Snare, and now the next two are revealed: The Last Days of the Powell Estate and Dare You. The first of these, The Last Days of the Powell Estate, is available to watch now!
In the Powell Estate episode, the Ninth Doctor and Rose join forces with an urban explorer to investigate the mystery of Mr. Fingers, an unseen killer terrorizing a deserted part of town. They offer a chilling warning: “If you feel a hand on your shoulder: don’t look around….” This is a crucial piece of advice for anyone venturing into the estate.

The story takes place in 2036, where Rose’s former home is now deserted. As they look into the frightening Mr Fingers (Dan Starkey), she also gets assistance from her mum, Jackie (Camille Coduri), and friend, Brainy Betty (Mandi Symonds).
Following that in December is Dare You, where Rose goes to visit her mother while the Powell Estate confronts a significant new danger.
The story begins with a mysterious game of truth or dare unfolding among the residents of the Powell Estate,” the synopsis reveals. “But beware – it’s risky to challenge a Time Lord. While physical harm can heal, words can truly be devastating.
Joining Eccleston and Piper in this episode are Beverley Klein as Polly Pemberton, Jack Ayres as Davey, and Harry Myers as Baz and the Hellion.
Writer Lisa McMullin of Dare You shared, “It was a dream come true to write for the Ninth Doctor and Rose Tyler together in a single story, especially after having written for them separately in their individual Big Finish adventures!” She added, “And including Jackie Tyler was just pure joy!”
I once wrote a Doctor Who story featuring the Ninth Doctor, and it was based on my father. This new story – which includes Rose and Jackie – focuses on the bond between mothers and daughters.
And then there’s an alien group insisting they’re ‘just having fun’ whenever the Doctor isn’t up for a challenge. I envisioned a Doctor who was truly vulnerable – one where their safeguards had been taken away. I wondered: what limits would the Doctor push if someone dared them to?
Dare You will be released this December as a digital download or a special collector’s edition CD, and you can pre-order it now. Meanwhile, The Last Days of the Powell Estate is available in both formats right now from Big Finish.
Interestingly, Piper is expected to return to the central Whoniverse television series. This follows the recent storyline where Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor seemed to transform into her as his time on the show ended in May.
