Doctor Who stars Jodie Whittaker and David Tennant reunite in heartwarming photo

As a seasoned gamer of time and space, I can’t help but feel a nostalgic thrill when I see David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker together again. Their reunion is like a sweet echo from my past, reminding me of the countless hours spent on the couch with my sonic screwdriver, eagerly waiting for the next adventure in that blue box.

Doctor Who actors David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker have reunited in a brand-new photo.

Together, they both portrayed different versions of the primary Time Lord character in the show, and have collaborated before on productions like the ITV crime series “Broadchurch” and the 2009 film “St Trinian’s 2: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold.

On September 20th, they made an appearance on the BBC Radio 2’s Breakfast Show, hosted by Scott Mills and joined by Lulu. They even took a picture with Mills which was shared on the radio station’s social media platforms.

During the chat with Scott, they discussed the conversation David had with Jodie, informing her about his return to “Doctor Who” as her replacement. Interestingly, he disclosed that he secretly recorded that phone call (regrettably, it seems that recording wasn’t appropriate for airplay on daytime radio).

David playfully hinted at his upcoming part in “Rivals,” a highly anticipated Disney+ adaptation based on the widely recognized Jilly Cooper novel, boasting an exceptional ensemble cast.

The story unfolds during a time of ’80s lavishness and entitlement, as Tennant put it, “at the height of when the world seemed to lose its mind… people almost competing with one another, with rather unpleasant individuals residing in the Cotswolds.

He further teased: “The reason why Jilly Cooper’s books persist is because the characters are fantastic… you’ve just got this great clutch of characters doing awful things to each other.

Look at all these young professionals spilling out of there! The first-ever cell phones were as big as Danny Dyer’s house, and they’re playing ’80s music. It’s such an exhilarating throwback to the era!

Apart from that, Jodie mentioned her impending theatre comeback in “The Duchess,” a modern adaptation of the 17th-century play about vengeance titled “The Duchess of Malfi” by John Webster.

She promised “an incredible, classic epic which has kind of everything in it, as you’d expect from a classic play. There’s a lot of death, there’s a lot of emotion.

However, at its time, it was remarkably forward-thinking regarding a key aspect – perhaps most fundamentally, the subjugation of women. This work, penned by a male author, aimed to underscore the oppression faced by women, notably the Duchess.

As a gamer, I’d say it keeps a strong grip on traditional aspects, yet it exudes a refreshing, up-to-date vibe.

It’s amazing how ancient writings can still hold such contemporary significance, and I firmly believe their underlying themes remain highly pertinent in our society today.

David has taken on the character of The Doctor numerous times throughout the years, appearing in audio plays, comedic skits on Family Guy, a live performance with The Muppets, and, most recently, during the 60th-anniversary specials as the Fourteenth Doctor.

Jodie, together with Mandip Gill, is set to reappear as the TARDIS crew. They’ll be appearing in a series of Big Finish audio dramas that revolve around their characters, Thirteen and Yaz, for a total of 12 episodes, each lasting an hour. These adventures are scheduled to premiere in summer of the next year.

Speaking about the return, Jodie said that she was “over the moon” to be playing The Doctor again.

She mentioned that it’s quite delightful to rewatch the Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz, saying, “Mandip and I always looked forward to working on ‘Doctor Who.’ One aspect we enjoyed the most was starting fresh episodes and encountering a fresh cast.

In the upcoming season of the primary series, it was revealed that both an established actor from “Coronation Street” and a performer known for the “Little Mermaid” reboot will be joining Ncuti Gatwa on screen.

In the UK, you can catch Doctor Who on BBC One, while viewers outside the UK can find it on Disney+. If you’re in the UK and want to watch classic episodes of Doctor Who, you can do so on BBC iPlayer.
