Doctor Who star reveals David Tennant nod in upcoming episode
Millie Gibson will be channelling some David Tennant in her next Doctor Who appearance.
In the upcoming episode of our popular sci-fi series, entitled ‘Lucky Day’, we welcome back the character Ruby Sunday, portrayed by Gibson, who last graced our screens during the 2024 Christmas special, titled ‘Joy to the World’.
In an interview with Radio Times, the actor characterized her character’s attire in the upcoming episode as “more mature,” yet “still trendy.

She mentioned that she feels she’s moved past a certain vintage aesthetic, and one ensemble even brought to mind the fashion sense typically associated with David Tennant’s character, the Doctor.
In a casual, easy-to-understand manner: “At the end of the show, my favorite ensemble was on display. Honestly, I felt like they styled me to resemble David Tennant!” she expressed.
I wore a vest and trousers with vertical stripes, along with a white shirt. In essence, I resembled David Tennant quite closely.

In the upcoming episode, Ruby will grapple with life on Earth without the Doctor by her side. However, when a formidable new peril arises, Ruby and UNIT embark on a mission to rescue Conrad, played by Jonah Hauer-King from “The Little Mermaid,” from the clutches of the fearsome Shreek.
In an interview with Collider regarding Ruby’s character progression during season 15, Gibson expressed that it was unusual to portray a companion following The Doctor. This can be rephrased as: During a chat with Collider about Ruby’s role in season 15, Gibson noted that it was quite uncommon for an actor to play a companion after The Doctor.
