In the year 1901, the story of “Torchwood: Rictus” unfolds, with actor Woolgar portraying Princess Beatrice. She assumes control over the enigmatic Torchwood Institute, which was previously under the stewardship of her late mother, Queen Victoria.

Exploring the true nature of Torchwood, she gradually becomes entangled in a realm fraught with peril. In her journey, she encounters the formidable shape-shifters known as Zygons, and there are whispers about an elusive figure called The Smiling Man making waves.

Still, it sounds like Beatrice will be a force to be reckoned with.

As a gamer, I always find it thrilling when I’m playing against another real human. Delving into their background and discovering who they truly are adds an extra layer of excitement to the game. I’ve done this before, for instance, when portraying Agatha Christie in Doctor Who.

Beatrice is an enthusiastic, younger woman, eager for excitement in life as she has been shielded from the world by Queen Victoria over a long period of time. With her mother now deceased, she yearns to explore this newfound liberty.

She possesses an innocence combined with an air of self-entitlement, exhibiting the mindset, “I may not excel at this task, but I will still proceed regardless.

Should this pique your curiosity, you’ll be delighted to learn that the freshly released audio drama is now available! You can acquire it online [once links are live], either as a digital copy or as a digital and collector’s edition CD bundle.

The beloved series, Doctor Who, makes its comeback on April 12 on BBC One in the United Kingdom and can be found on Disney+ worldwide. For those in the UK, you can also catch up on classic episodes of Doctor Who on BBC iPlayer.
