Actor Nicholas Briggs, famous for his roles in Doctor Who, is set to portray the character of Sherlock Holmes in a fresh audio production.
In “Untold Tales of Sherlock Holmes,” the legendary sleuth delves into six compelling mysteries spanning different phases of his illustrious career, loosely based on the original cases penned by Arthur Conan Doyle.
In this upcoming eight-part audio drama, Briggs, known for lending his voice to characters like the Daleks and the Cybermen in Doctor Who, will take the lead. Simultaneously, another talented voice artist from Doctor Who, Richard Earl, will portray Dr. John Watson.
What to Read Next
The show is set to premiere on October 1, 2025, releasing fresh episodes every week. Each 30-minute episode offers an exciting ensemble, puzzling mysteries, and suspenseful cliffhangers that will keep you hooked.
The eight-episode series titled “Untold Stories of Sherlock Holmes” by Big Finish is now up for pre-purchase at £24.99. Once all episodes are aired, fans can download the entire collection as a boxset.

Writer Jonathan Barnes pointed out that Arthur Conan Doyle often includes hints of undocumented cases within the Sherlock Holmes tales. These can range from unfinished or inconclusive stories to those considered too scandalous for thorough narration.
The entire collection focuses on interpreting and extending the clues that Doyle subtly left, similar to a trail of crumbs he’s laid out for us to trace.

In addition, the audio collection includes an array of popular figures hailing from the realm of Sherlock Holmes.
Features the talents of Briggs and Earl, joined by Timothy Bentinck portraying Mycroft Holmes, John Banks assuming roles such as Colonel Sebastian Moran and Inspector Lestrade, and Harriet Kershaw taking on Esmerelda North.
In this sentence, I have aimed to rephrase the original in a way that is more conversational and easy to read while still maintaining the same meaning.
Gabrielle Phillimore, portrayed by Aurora Dawson-Hunte, and Emily will be on stage. Additionally, Christopher Naylor takes on the role of Prime Minister Jasper Cranfield.

I personally tune in to BBC One in the UK whenever Doctor Who airs, while fans abroad can catch it on Disney+. If you’re in the UK and want a taste of the classic episodes, you’ll find them on BBC iPlayer!
