Doctor Who star confirmed for “compelling” and “mysterious” Scotland-set comedy

Doctor Who star Michelle Gomez has been confirmed for a new Scotland-set comedy titled The Incomer.

I’ve just completed working on a movie that centers around two siblings, who’ve spent their entire lives secluded on a far-flung Scottish isle. As a gaming enthusiast, it felt like embarking on an immersive adventure within a new virtual world, bringing these characters and their unique story to life.

The tranquility of their lives, which involved catching seabirds, interacting with legendary beings, and protecting their dwelling from intruders, is disrupted when a city employee shows up, aiming to relocate them to the mainland.

They learn about the world outside their island, while also teaching him ‘the way of the gull’.

In a new turn of events, actors Gayle Rankin from ‘House of the Dragon’, Grant O’Rourke known for his role in ‘Outlander’, and Domhnall Gleeson famed for his work in ‘Star Wars’ will portray siblings Isla and Sandy, as well as council worker Daniel respectively, in their upcoming project.

In addition to Emun Elliott from Sexy Beast and John Hannah, who is known for narrating Race Across the World, there are also other notable stars in the movie, though their specific roles have yet to be disclosed.

The movie was described by Director Louis Paxton as having a “warm, peculiar, and unexpectedly humorous” essence. He further elaborated that while it’s an entertaining piece, its core revolves around themes of identity and the narratives we share among each other and within ourselves, drawing inspiration from the enchanting and cryptic past of our distant islands.

Mia Bays, the director of BFI Filmmaking Fund, expressed great pride in assisting Louis Paxton in bringing his first movie, an intriguing and quirky Scottish Folk comedy, to life.

Nestled on a secluded island within the cold embrace of the North Sea, the novel titled “The Incomer” embodies tender emotions, intrigue, and a charming quirkiness. It delves into topics like solitude, ancestry, and emphasizes the crucial role of human interaction in instigating beneficial transformation and revival.

The Incomer does not currently have a release date.
