Doctor Who: Ruby Sunday’s Villain Returns for the Season 2 Finale, and I Can’t Wait!
Warning: SPOILERS for the Doctor Who episode “Lucky Day” are ahead!
After several months of speculation about Jonah Hauer-King’s character in Doctor Who, the truth was finally revealed in the latest episode available on Disney+. At first, it seemed that Hauer-King played Ruby Sunday’s boyfriend, but his character, Conrad Clark, turned out to be a selfish anti-UNIT activist spreading misinformation. Although it wasn’t clear at the end of “Lucky Day” if Conrad would reappear in Season 2 (also known as the fifteenth season during Doctor Who’s revival period), Millie Gibson, who plays Ruby, confirmed that he will return for the finale, and I am excited to see their upcoming encounter.
Gibson revealed this detail during an interview on BBC’s The One Show (as reported by Collider). She hinted that the disagreement between Conrad and Ncuti Gatwa’s character, the Fifteenth Doctor, will persist in the 2025 TV lineup, as Gibson put it.
Jonah returns, indicating that the fight isn’t over yet. Russell T Davies, as usual, penned an extraordinary script. Similarly, I return to find myself back with the Doctor and Belinda, portrayed by Varada Sethu.
It’s important to note that this revelation wasn’t completely unexpected. Following The Doctor and Conrad’s intense confrontation within the TARDIS, The Doctor sent Conrad back to his prison. Given that The Doctor had informed Conrad he would die in his cell at 49 due to heart failure, it appeared there was no further involvement for this character. However, unexpectedly, Anita Dobson’s enigmatic Mrs. Flood intervened to release Conrad from his cell.
Millie Gibson’s announcement that Jonah Hauer-King, playing Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid, will appear in the Season 2 finale titled “The Reality War,” has sparked excitement. This is because Millie herself will return as Ruby Sunday in the same episode. So far, Doctor Who Season 2 has featured Belinda Chandra as a new companion, but we’ve only had a glimpse of Ruby in a flashback. I’m looking forward to seeing Ruby reunited with The Doctor, especially since the stern Doctor we saw reprimanding Conrad was from a time before he met Belinda.

To keep up with the latest episodes of Doctor Who, be sure you’re signed up for Disney+. The ad-supported plan is priced at $9.99 per month. If you prefer an ad-free experience, it’s $15.99 a month or save 16% and pay $159.99 upfront for a year. Check out the deal here!
At the end of this month, “The Reality War” will arrive, and I’m eager to discover how Conrad Clark fits into Mrs. Flood’s schemes. Anita Dobson’s character was first seen in “The Church on Ruby Road,” and has popped up sporadically throughout Season 1 of “Doctor Who.” However, she’s been a consistent presence in every episode of Season 2 so far, cropping up at various times and locations in space and time. Her eerie demeanor is quite unsettling, and bringing someone like Conrad, who showed no regret for his actions in “Lucky Day,” on board can only lead to more trouble.
Currently, we’re at the midway mark of Doctor Who Season 2, so stay tuned to TopMob in the upcoming weeks for news about the Fifteenth Doctor and his companions, as well as his friends and foes. It’s uncertain if the series will continue beyond this point, but let’s hope Ncuti Gatwa’s latest role boosts the chances for Season 3.
