Doctor Who legends reunite for new spin-off tale with House of the Dragon star
As a long-time Whovian who has witnessed the regenerations of countless Doctors, I can’t help but feel a surge of nostalgia and excitement as I hear about “The Fifth Doctor Adventures: Hooklight”. The reunion of Peter Davison, Janet Fielding, Sarah Sutton, and Matthew Waterhouse is like stepping back into the TARDIS, reliving those thrilling adventures from my youth.
Four legendary figures from the world of “Doctor Who” have come together for a fresh, standalone story, with “House of the Dragon‘s” Kieran Bew joining the cast.
In a delightful turn of events, Peter Davison is set to reprise his beloved character as the Fifth Doctor in an upcoming audio series. The 12-part story titled “The Fifth Doctor Adventures: Hooklight” will be divided into two distinct halves.
As reported by RadioTimes, Davison’s character will be accompanied on an extraordinary journey by legendary Doctor Who cast members Janet Fielding (Tegan), Sarah Sutton (Nyssa), and Matthew Waterhouse (Adric). This quest promises to be the most momentous adventure of their lives.
In this synopsis for the series, it’s stated that there exists a light which should always remain unlit. The Doctor encounters trouble when the TARDIS lands in an ancient land called Morning. Here, he discovers that a formidable power has resurfaced once more.
“A lamp filled with a mythical substance known as Hooklight has been discovered – and this could mean the end of everything.
“The adventure commences as our heroes face off against disorderly forces, encountering both allies and adversaries along the way. Stranded without their vessel and separated from one another, they embark on a perilous voyage to the Forge of Darkness. This journey may claim some among them…
The adventure story, penned by Tim Foley, will additionally introduce Kieran Bew from ‘House of the Dragon’ as the pirate pilot Davlin Crux, and Celia Imrie, known for her role in ‘Bridget Jones’, as the historian Doctor Kessica Myles.
In April 2025, we’ll debut Part One of the series, starting off with episodes 1 through 6. Then, in May 2025, we’ll follow up with Part Two, which includes episodes 7 to 12.
David Richardson, the producer, characterized the narrative as an expansive, melodious six-hour journey brimming with fresh characters, novel creatures, and numerous unexpected delights. He assured the audience that it would offer something incredibly thrilling and aesthetically pleasing.
Doctor Who is available to stream on BBC iPlayer in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere.
