Doctor Who is about to shake up Gallifrey lore as Russell T Davies promises “big surprises”
The showrunner of Doctor Who, Russell T Davies, hinted at some exciting twists as he prepares to redefine the history of Gallifrey.
Last week, as a gamer immersed in the sci-fi world, I was left stunned by the surprising reappearance of an old favorite, The Rani – Time Lord and classic character, portrayed by Archie Panjabi. It turned out that Mrs Flood (Anita Dobson) had undergone a bizarre process and split into two distinct figures.
This upcoming weekend signals the end of season 15, featuring a unique two-episode grand finale where the wicked characters join forces.

As stated by Davies, ‘Wish World’ and ‘The Reality War’ are expected to test our understanding of the planet Gallifrey, since the ending appears to take a surprising twist, he says.
During an interview with Doctor Who Magazine, the showrunner characterized the series as “more wild than it has ever been,” hinting at a grand, sweeping narrative that is equally intense on a personal level.
Davies added, “It has quite a few unforeseen twists… There are substantial shocks, both for the character of the Doctor and by the Doctor herself.
Certain elements challenge the mythology of Gallifrey, while others offer new perspectives on the Doctor, the Rani, and their dynamic.
In simple terms, Davies referred to the finale as a “rounding up” or “conclusion” point for the most recent season of the show, hinting that he has been skillfully incorporating aspects from Ncuti Gatwa’s portrayal of The Doctor all along.
The plotlines introduced in the first episode of season 14, titled ‘The Church on Ruby Road’, are effectively resolved. This is satisfying for loyal fans while also proving engaging for those just starting to watch.
