Doctor Who fans have received a promising update amid concerns about the show’s future.
The popular science fiction show is at present being created by Bad Wolf and BBC Studios, while Disney+ functions as its global platform for broadcast.
After completing two full seasons, each with eight episodes, along with two Christmas specials and three anniversary specials, it’s nearly time for a change as the 26-episode contract with Disney is about to expire.

In the year 2026, the last five installments of the agreement will be delivered through the upcoming Whoniverse sequel titled “The War Between Land and the Sea“.
In response to the situation at hand, Jane Tranter of Bad Wolf stated to the Royal Television Society that Disney+ would only be making a decision on whether or not they plan to proceed if certain conditions are met.

In a situation where Disney is facing significant budget cuts, and TV programs have seen funding reductions as well, it seems likely that they are taking a thoughtful approach to balance things out and carefully consider their next steps.
Regarding “Doctor Who” on Disney+, its continuation remains uncertain; however, Tranter has reassured fans that the series will carry on with the BBC, regardless of the outcome.
She stated that it is no longer a matter of whether the series will be back on the BBC, but more about when and how. Essentially, given its core nature being a BBC production, it’s expected to continue in some fashion.

The sentiment was also reflected by the BBC’s Chief Content Officer, Kate Phillips, who recently stated that Doctor Who will persist “regardless of” Disney’s involvement.
Fear not, as Doctor Who has no plans to depart. Disney’s partnership has been wonderful and it persists with The War Between The Land And The Sea scheduled for next year. Regarding future ventures, whether Disney remains involved or not, Doctor Who will remain on the BBC. Essentially, the TARDIS is staying put.
