Doctor Who confirms return to Saturday nights on BBC and it’s coming very soon

Okay, so I’m super excited because Doctor Who is coming back to BBC on Saturday nights! Everyone’s been waiting ages for a new series, and we’re all hoping to find out when it’s finally going to air.

Starting this weekend, BBC Three will be showing some of the best episodes from the show, beginning with Matt Smith’s first appearance as the Eleventh Doctor in season five.

On Saturday, September 17th, the channel will show the first two episodes of Ncuti Gatwa’s time as The Doctor, one right after the other. ‘The Eleventh Hour’ will begin at 7:10pm, and ‘The Beast Below’ will follow at 8:15pm.

What to Read Next

We don’t know exactly which episodes will be shown next, but they will be from the show’s seasons starting in 2010.

Coming in 2026 to the Whoniverse is *The War Between the Land and the Sea*, though an exact release date is still to be confirmed.

This new five-episode series centers on UNIT, a military organization, as they face a global crisis caused by the unexpected return of the ancient Sea Devils.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Russell Tovey star in the series, alongside Jemma Redgrave, Alexander Devrient, Ruth Madeley, Colin McFarlane, Adrian Lukis, Patrick Baladi, Francesca Corney, Mei Mac, and Vincent Franklin.

There were worries among fans about the show’s future, as it wasn’t clear if the BBC and Disney would keep working together once Ncuti Gatwa finished playing the Doctor.

However, BBC bosses recently confirmed that the show will keep going “with or without Disney”.

In August, Kate Phillips, who leads content at the BBC, stated that the show will continue regardless of whether the current partnership remains in place.

Don’t worry, Doctor Who isn’t going anywhere,” she stated in an interview with Deadline. “Disney has been a fantastic partner, and that continues with the upcoming ‘The War Between The Land And The Sea’ next year. But whether or not Disney remains involved, Doctor Who will continue to air on the BBC. The show is secure – the TARDIS isn’t going anywhere!”

Doctor Who broadcasts on BBC One in the UK and on Disney+ internationally. You can find classic Doctor Who episodes on BBC iPlayer within the UK.
