Okay, so things are a little uncertain with *Doctor Who* right now. The BBC and Disney haven’t said if they’re going to keep teaming up for future seasons, and honestly, it’s making a lot of us fans (and even people who work on the show!) a bit nervous. We’re all hoping they figure things out because nobody wants to see the show disappear!
According to writer Robert Shearman – known for his work on *Doctor Who* books, audio dramas, and the 2005 episode ‘Dalek’ – the show is currently in its weakest state ever, as he recently stated in *Doctor Who Magazine*.
He was also upset about a quickly-made scene featuring Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor changing into a character played by Billie Piper. The scene didn’t clarify *who* Piper was playing – whether it was The Doctor, Rose Tyler, the Bad Wolf, or a completely new character – and this meant that other Doctor Who stories like books and audio dramas couldn’t use the character until the TV show explained it all.

Jane Tranter, from the production company Bad Wolf, responded to the comment that the show was “dead as we’ve ever known” by calling it “really rude and actually untrue” in an interview with BBC Radio Wales.
Charlotte Tranter confirmed that neither she nor Kate Phillips, BBC’s head of content, will reveal any plans for the future of *Doctor Who* on television until after the broadcast of the spin-off, *The War Between the Land and Sea*.
The current plan for *Doctor Who* is a 26-episode commitment, a partnership between the BBC, BBC Studios, and Disney+. We’ve filmed 21 of those episodes so far, according to the show’s representative.
We still have five more episodes of *The War Between The Land And The Sea* coming up. After those air, we’ll all work together to decide what’s next for *Doctor Who*.
This franchise has been around for sixty years, and we’ve been continuously reviving it for the past twenty years, starting in 2005. You’d naturally expect it to evolve over time – nothing should stay exactly the same forever.
It’s definitely going to change somehow, but one thing’s for sure: The Doctor will return. We all just need to be patient and see when and who takes on the role next.
Although it’s currently unclear what the future holds for *Doctor Who* on television, the BBC is committed to continuing the show, whether or not Disney is involved.
