Caroline Quentin, known for her role in *Doc Martin*, stars in the British drama *Life Begins*, which is now available to stream on Netflix UK.
Caroline plays Maggie in a show with Alexander Armstrong, where she’s married to his character, Phil. Their lives are turned upside down when Phil reveals he’s leaving her for another person.
I’m really hooked on this show! It’s all about a couple trying to get their lives back on track after everything that happened. We see Maggie starting over with a new job and cautiously getting back into the dating scene, which is fun to watch. But things aren’t exactly smooth sailing for Phil either – he’s realizing his new relationship isn’t what he thought it was. It’s a really relatable story!

The show, created by Mike Bullen (who also made *Cold Feet*), aired for three seasons from 2004 to 2009. It features experienced actors like Anne Reid, known from *Coronation Street*, Claire Skinner from *Outnumbered*, and the late Frank Finlay.
The series was generally well-received when it launched, with *The Times* specifically highlighting the strong performances of the lead actors in what they called an emotionally resonant drama. The review noted that Quentin skillfully balanced the serious subject matter with moments of levity.

The show really resonated with viewers, with one person commenting that it had all the right emotional ingredients – humor, sadness, frustration, envy, romance, and suspense. They praised its heartwarming and realistic portrayal of life through the experiences of Maggie, Phil, their family, and friends, adding that everyone could relate to something in the stories.
One viewer shared that this is a great pick-me-up, but it’s also surprisingly insightful and might remind you of your own family.

Later this weekend, Netflix will add the crime drama *The Escape Artist*, starring David Tennant.
So, I just finished watching this awesome limited series created by David Wolstencroft. I play as Will Burton, a lawyer who’s known for being able to get people off the hook in court – basically, he’s a real pro at winning cases, even when things look super bleak for his clients.
The series, which first appeared on BBC One in 2013, will be available on Netflix starting September 20th. One IMDb user praised the show, writing, “Whether you enjoy it or not, David Tennant’s performance is outstanding, and that alone makes it a 10/10 experience.”
Life Begins is available now on Netflix.
