Doc Martin star Caroline Catz’s “intoxicating” new movie confirms UK release date

It has been officially announced when the new film, “The Extraordinary Miss Flower,” starring Caroline Catz from “Doc Martin,” will be shown in the UK and Ireland.

The “biographical movie” had its premiere at the BFI London Film Festival, and following additional screenings in Dublin on February 28th and Glasgow from March 1st to 2nd, the film is scheduled for a cinema release on May 9th.

In this movie, Icelandic singer Emilíana Torrini (known for her performance as Gollum’s Song in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers) makes her acting debut, narrating a tale about her friend Zoe’s deceased mother, Geraldine.

During the 1960s and 1970s, she was given a suitcase filled with love letters, which served as the inspiration for Torrini’s most recent album. In her upcoming performance, Torrini will sing these songs, while Catz takes on the role of Miss Flower in the title.

In addition, the project includes notable personalities such as Richard Ayoade, Alice Lowe, and Nick Cave taking on secondary roles, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor lending her voice.

Torrini stated that working on this movie was an exhilarating, captivating journey for him. He had never encountered a film set quite like it before, and he’s still left bewildered by the events. He is utterly astonished by Zoe [Flower], Iain [Forsyth], and Jane [Pollard] for managing to create this masterpiece in such a brief span of time.

The artists and their team displayed an exceptional grasp of the emotional and creative origins of these songs, and they truly excelled. A heartfelt thanks goes out to Sam Dyson, our executive producer, and the Distiller team for trusting in our vision and backing us on this project.

Several critiques of the movie have surfaced after its showing at the BFI. Deadline labeled it as an “exceptional experimental biopic,” possessing “mesmerizing psychedelic elements.” The article goes on to say that while the film maintains secrecy about its subject, the allure of Miss Flower remains captivating and mysterious.

The Extraordinary Miss Flower will be released in UK and Irish cinemas on May 9.
