Doc Martin remake with Martin Clunes shares first look trailer and fans “can’t wait”

The trailer is out for Best Medicine, a new comedy-drama inspired by the show Doc Martin. Fans will be excited to hear that Martin Clunes will be making a special appearance!

The new series centers on Dr. Martin Best (Josh Charles), who trades the fast-paced life of Boston for a quieter existence in a small coastal fishing village, where he begins working at a local medical practice.

Based on the popular ITV show that aired for 10 seasons over 18 years, Best Medicine features Martin Clunes in a special appearance as Robert, Martin’s successful doctor father who specializes in digestive health.

Fox recently shared a first look at its upcoming series with a trailer posted on Instagram. The short clip features Martin adjusting to his new environment before the show premieres in January.

Though he seemed tough and had health problems of his own, Martin slowly began to feel comfortable in his new surroundings. However, the very end suggests he’s not quite ready to become overly affectionate.

Fans are excited about the US version of the show, with one saying they ‘love the UK version and can’t wait!’ They also expressed enthusiasm for the cast, specifically Josh Charles and Annie Potts. Meanwhile, the official Fox account hinted that the documentary subject is about to face some surprising truths.

The teaser trailer doesn’t feature Robert Clunes’s character, but a previous announcement described him as a strong-willed man who appears colder than his son.

Despite appearing arrogant and aloof, Robert is keeping secrets that could disrupt Martin’s fresh start and make him deal with his past.

So, alongside Charles and Clunes, the show’s got a really great cast! I’m excited to see Abigail Spencer, Annie Potts, Cree Cicchino, and Josh Segarra all in it. Plus, Didi Conn and Clea Lewis are popping up in supporting roles, which is awesome.

Best Medicine will premiere in January 2026.
