The story unfolds in a peaceful coastal community, which was shaken by the tragic loss of three teenagers 15 years prior. Though many have attempted to leave the past behind, the demise of another youth rekindles memories of the old days.
Based on the initial feedback I’ve seen online from those who’ve finished watching, it seems like many are thoroughly enjoying the series.
One enthusiastic viewer on Rotten Tomatoes praised the series as having a captivating, believable plotline and outstanding performances, stating that it is definitely worth your time. Another viewer remarked that it features a terrific story (derived from a book, which often adds to its appeal), impressive acting, a concise script, and top-notch production. They advise not to reveal spoilers and simply encourage you to watch it for yourself.
On IMDb, the audience reaction was more divided, yet there was a shared sentiment among both fans and critics that the series was overly prolonged.
One viewer commented, “It would’ve been ideal as a TV movie or a four-episode series at most from BBC,” while another agreed, saying, “Though I feel the series ran a tad too long, it’s exceptionally well-written and acted.
Others commended Australian actor Charlie Vickers for his portrayal of an unconventional character, as well as the way the show tackled the subject of dementia.
The Survivors is streaming on Netflix.
The debut print issue of Digital Spy’s magazine, titled “British Comedy Legends,” is available for purchase! Grab your copy from your local newsstand or online for only £3.99.
