Warning: Outlander: Blood of My Blood Spoilers are ahead. Step away until you’ve caught up!
Julia and Henry Beauchamp faced plenty of challenges even before the time travel adventures in *Outlander*’s *Blood of My Blood*. Since arriving in 1714, they haven’t had much respite, quickly becoming involved in the lives of the Fraser, MacKenzie, and Grant families. The latest episode featured Claire’s baby brother’s baptism and Julia’s unwanted marriage to Lord Lovat. Fans are eager to see how their son, William Henry Beauchamp, will affect the plot of *Outlander*’s eighth season, and one particular fan theory is especially interesting.
What’s The Twisty Outlander: Blood Of My Blood Theory About Claire’s Brother?
As a huge *Outlander* fan, I was completely hooked when the trailer showed Julia and Henry time-traveling to the 1700s – just like Claire! And the fact that they survived being kids really complicated the family story. Now, things are getting even more interesting! We’ve learned Jamie Fraser has a younger brother he never knew about, and honestly, a fan theory about where he ends up later on is both exciting and a little heartbreaking. It’s a really compelling addition to an already complex narrative.
Like many fans, I’ve been wondering if we ever encountered the adult William on the show. While looking for others’ thoughts on this, I came across a great idea: Julia may have had a friend, Brian, secretly baptize the baby William to give him a legitimate name separate from his father, the villainous Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat.
Could Brian and Ellen end up adopting the baby? And what if Jamie’s brother Willie – the one Jamie named his son after – turns out to be Claire’s brother too?!
It’s a pretty shocking idea, and raises a lot of questions, but just consider the possibilities. It would mean Claire and Jamie’s pasts are even more connected than we realize, and – if the story goes this way – that Jamie fell in love with his sister-in-law! She was secretly adopted, yes, but this plotline is the kind you’d expect to see on a daytime soap opera like *General Hospital* – it’s that dramatic.
The star of ‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’ was completely exhausted after filming a very intense birthing scene, and just hearing about it is stressful!
Some fans believe William might actually be the same person as Simon Fraser Jr. from Season 2 of *Outlander*, since Lord Lovat had him publicly baptized under that name. However, details from both the books and the show suggest Simon Fraser Jr. was born roughly ten years before William, making the idea that he *is* William a little more plausible.
Jamie’s brother died of smallpox when they were children, so it wouldn’t make sense for Claire to suddenly encounter him later in the show, *Outlander*. Still, I really like this idea because it deepens the connection between Jamie and Claire. While Claire never got to know William, he remains a presence in her life through Jamie’s memories of him. It’s just so sweet!
We might still find out the Beauchamps are reunited with their son, and we simply don’t know their fate yet. We’ll have to wait and see how their story unfolds.
