Disney's Star Wars Rey movie hit with another setback

As a seasoned gamer and lifelong Star Wars enthusiast, I must admit that the current state of the franchise has left me feeling like Han Solo flying the Millennium Falcon through an asteroid field – with every turn bringing new challenges. The continuous cancellations and delays in the Star Wars projects have been a rollercoaster ride, to say the least.

As a dedicated Star Wars fan, I must admit that I find myself a bit concerned about Disney’s current management of this beloved franchise. The constant cancellations and delays seem to suggest a lack of clarity regarding its direction, which is quite disheartening for someone like me who eagerly awaits each new addition. It’s hard not to wonder if they truly understand the potential of such a surefire blockbuster.

Different creative perspectives have resulted in several television series and films being abandoned or terminated, and sadly, the most recent casualty is the upcoming Star Wars movie featuring Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker that was previously announced.

As an ardent fan, I must confess that this week has brought a bit of a setback for the upcoming movie, as Steven Knight, the mastermind behind Peaky Blinders, chose to depart from the project. Initially, he was brought in after Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson stepped down due to differences in creative vision with Mr. Kennedy.

From my perspective as a die-hard gamer, here’s how I’d put it: The studio is currently chatting with other scribes, but I don’t have the inside scoop on where those discussions stand. The bottom line is, we won’t see cameras rolling until at least 2025. Exciting news dropped at Star Wars Celebration 2023 – Daisy Ridley will reprise her role as Rey, helping establish a brand-new Jedi Order in the upcoming film.

The director of Ms. Marvel, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, continues to be involved in directing the upcoming “New Jedi Order” film. While not officially named as Episode X, it appears that this movie may function as a conclusion to the controversial sequel trilogy. At present, few details about the film have been disclosed, but lead actress Daisy Ridley stated this week that an update is imminent.

Currently scheduled for a 2026 release is the upcoming Star Wars film titled “The Mandalorian and Grogue,” directed by Jon Favreau. At present, its release remains on schedule for this date.

It’s likely that with the recent departure of another writer, fans may persistently advocate for Kathleen Kennedy’s removal from her position as president of Lucasfilm, expressing their dissatisfaction.
